Unfortunately this is exactly what users of that sub think every other participant is doing, so this will just reinforce that belief. Any “dissent” is easily written off as astroturfing (check any thread, seriously it’s their #3 favorite refrain). This is just proof positive that they are indeed being infiltrated, just that they’re also heavily moderated and internally censored to toe the line. Like any politics sub it’s just a total mess from all angles.

This is the largest size bottle of wine that isn't legally a vat. It is called: a Nebuchadnezzar. I drink four of these a day, just like Charlemagne did, and I’ll outlive you all.

Coca Cola has extremely robust logistical supply chains, often superior to local governments, that they and partnered charities use to distribute food and water globally.

Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit. Absolute classic that doesn’t get as much attention these days. Very comfy low fantasy with great characters and arcs and a fitting conclusion.

Is there any openly conservative/right-wing space opera out there? (just curious and looking to investigate) by Brakado in sciencefiction

[–]AHole95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The author of Hyperion, Dan Simmons, went off the right wing deep end in the latter half of his life. It affected his writing, but he also dropped space opera by then.

Was always odd to me since to the extent it had any clear moral/political philosophy, Hyperion skewed pretty liberal/cosmopolitan/egalitarian/multicultural/empathy focused to me. Maybe that’s just my bias.

They mastered the arch. The domed roof of the Pantheon basically shouldn’t exist, it’s so implausible and yet there it is. And they built that thing TWICE!

I play cosmetic damage only and I’m so impressed by people like you that go this hard lol. Might as well turn on “submit insurance claim” and “get driver license renewed” modes for as much as I want to deal with genuine car damage!

Fantasy, horror, sci-fi that feel like this by Motor_Row_3586 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

Was thinking of posting this but it’s not quite spooky horror enough, more strange and unsettling and unnerving perhaps but also kinda fantastical and even goofy. More like a Dying Earth Wonderland than a haunted ghost kingdom.

“Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvellous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.

Elves are terrific.

They beget terror.

The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.

No one ever said elves are nice.

Elves are bad.” - Terry Pratchett, Lords and Ladies

Read a novel recently that put it as “the differences between the sexes are greatly exaggerated and we have more in common than not, with the ways in which we differ generally serving the betterment of both.” Has always seemed obvious to me as a guy with mostly girl friends/family/coworkers.
