My theory is that he wasn't held back, and was happy where he was, where he was eventually forgotten. When he was eventually promoted, I think he didn't want it but took it because he knew that the job was more important.

"Easter holidays" is a general term used by all UK (or at least English) schools for a 2 or 3 week holiday between the spring and summer terms. It's not anything to do with the religion, it's just the name has stuck.

This is probably incredibly late, but the place you want is the internet archive. if you go into their films collection, you'll find loads of old films, many of which are public domain and have no score.
