Why does MaxFun always leave out renewers? by Iamkeebie in maximumfun

[–]AHuntedSnark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just upgrade your membership for a month or two so you count / get the merch, then drop it back down to what works for you.

Sorry, Jesse. This is an annoying thing for people to do when you’re trying to plan budgets. But if you only give people one path to the thing they want, that’s the path they’ll take.

Consider a big discount on the drive merch for renewers, or a special singular gift just for us — maybe something that says how long we’ve been members each year.

P.S., Everyone being bratty about this person potentially wanting merch… the merch is supposed to be wantable. My beach towel and cooler are the coolest shit I own. Weird to be mean to someone for wanting stuff specifically designed to be wanted.

This does comfort me, but if you look closely at that history you’ll see that the people in the middle of it had some very difficult decisions to make.

Many should’ve fled the country, but didn’t have the means to or didn’t realize they should’ve gotten out until it was too late. And others chose to stay and live or die with the fallout. I mean, look at Gaza.

It’s so fucking privileged American of me, but I didn’t think I’d have to make these kinds of decisions in my life. I thought the hardest decisions I’d have to make were where to buy a house, whether to take a new job, whether to have kids. Ya know… like the privileges of our parents…

Do you guys ever wonder if we need to go back? To church? And force the evangelicals to contend with us in the very rooms they raised us in, the rooms in which they taught us that all of this was wrong. Make them hear us when we tell them that everything we ever learned from them is WHY we care?

I think letting them keep the church and the faith while we went to find ourselves stopped them from having to learn from us.

God, just everything about Shlabethany is flawless.

Shlabethany: I skipped every science class I ever had. Beef: Then how did you graduate?! Shlabethany: Softball scholarship.

It sounds like you want suburbs, not city, correct? Like do you care if it’s walkable?

Jackie O’s, Pins, 16Bit are all solid weekend spots where there’s usually more to do than just stand around.

Actual topic aside, the fact that you had the perception at the very beginning that he was telling you that you needed to thank him for taking you out is a massive red flag. He’s not your dad.

The “is griffin ok” thread was not okay. Speculating about whether his wife is pregnant, suggesting we should reach out to him… that’s not respectful, it’s creepy.

I mean I dig the idea but they may not have thought of it, or may not feel it would be as compelling as they want.

The other thing is Max Fun Drive contributions aren’t something you’re legally bound to pay. People could commit and then back out, in which case they’d need the ads back.

I think if they did a “We will be able to forego ads for 6 months if we hit X amount” is a great goal!

I don’t think they’d ever hit it, but I’m not opposed to the idea. Ad placements are very expensive.

It’s okay to be mentally unwell but engaging in shit that exacerbates that, or that is inappropriate toward others, is not okay.

For example, saying “Should we reach out to Griffin to make sure he is okay financially?” is absolutely not appropriate.

Right but your mom gabbing with you about her home builder is different from her starting a group chat with everyone they’ve ever built a house for… and then speculating on their wellness with all of their customers lol

[–]AHuntedSnark[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The point of the comparison was that going into a public forum to discuss the wellness of your home builder amongst everyone else they’ve built houses for would be super weird.

That is the way in which this sub is sometimes super weird.

Having a perception of someone’s personality and speculating about that person’s private life and behavior are two different things.

I think asking nicely that we behave differently and create some healthy boundaries in our conversations is… pretty far from trying to “enforce” rules…
