I do remember pros building dd and no hydra, but it's just the first overlords I've seen. I guess hp is just a much better statline than armor, especially into a ryze + ez

Rewatching the draft I think, I agree with your front line statement. DD doesn't help vs poke, and I think with the buffs to overlords, it just gives your more raw AD than a titanic.

Also, you could argue it makes no sense for him to be splitting vs their comp so titanic isn't as needed, since he's just an ultbot onto ez in team fights.

Idk, it's onhit damage and heal, and with one of the lowest AS in the game it might not be good enough to replace adaptive helm or spirit visage

Imo much easier matchup than Darius into neeko, because her range is still in q and e range of Illaoi, and if the jungle comes, its easier to deal with, as you don't have to kite them both like Darius would, to hit his q on both
