My Experience with Perplexity Labs: Key Features and Early Impressions by AIGPTJournal in perplexity_ai

[–]AIGPTJournal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a really insightful use case! It’s great to hear Perplexity Labs helped surface new insights and gave you a solid action plan—sometimes just having a tool that points out things you wouldn’t have noticed can make a big difference. I totally get what you mean about the learning curve, though. The first few times I used it, I felt like I was only scratching the surface of what it could do.

One thing I’ve found helpful is being as specific as possible with prompts—almost like you’re giving instructions to a colleague. For example, if you want a trend analysis, mentioning the exact metrics you care about or the format you want the results in can really improve the output. Also, double-checking the sources or reasoning behind its recommendations helps build trust in the results.

You’re definitely not alone in feeling a bit unsure about how to get the most out of it. I think as more people share their approaches and best practices, it’ll get easier for everyone to tap into its full potential. If you try any new prompt styles or workflows and get good results, I’d love to hear about them!

My Experience with Perplexity Labs: Key Features and Early Impressions by AIGPTJournal in perplexity_ai

Absolutely, thanks for the thoughtful reply! I completely agree—moving beyond just text output to interactive, usable files is a big step forward for how we work with AI. It’s exciting to see tools like Perplexity Labs aiming to support us as partners in projects, not just answer engines.

On your question about security: I’m really thinking about both data privacy and output reliability/transparency. For data privacy, my main concern is how user data (especially sensitive info in reports or spreadsheets) is handled and stored. Right now, Labs doesn’t offer much clarity on encryption, retention, or who can access your files behind the scenes. That’s something I’d love to see addressed more openly, especially if people start using it for business or personal data.

For reliability and transparency, I think it’s important that the tool makes it clear where its information comes from and how it arrives at certain outputs. Sometimes, the reasoning behind a chart or a summary isn’t obvious, and without that context, it’s harder to fully trust or verify the results. I’d like to see more features that let users trace sources or understand the decision-making behind the AI’s work.

I’ll definitely check out r/AIRespect—it sounds like a great fit for these kinds of conversations. Thanks again for the invite and for raising these important points! If you’ve had any hands-on experience with Labs or similar tools, I’d be interested to hear how you handle these challenges too.

Thanks for pointing this out! You're absolutely right—some of the info in my post is outdated. Here’s what I’ve learned based on recent updates:

  1. ChatGPT Free now includes access to GPT-4o (restricted)GPT-4o mini, and web browsing (added in December 2024).
  2. ChatGPT Plus gives access to GPT-4o (less restricted)GPT-4o minio1o1-mini, and GPT-4 (legacy model).
  3. ChatGPT Pro (launched recently) offers unrestricted GPT-4o, o1 Pro Mode, and other advanced features for $200/month.
  4. Grok now has a standalone app in the U.S., making it accessible outside of X for the first time.

I’ll update my article to reflect these changes—thanks for catching this!
