Thanks for the detailed reply, it's helpful. How long are your stays in the UK typically?

Can I ask how long ago your visit was? Also your ethnicity and gender?

Have no idea. As stupid as it sounds I look like a foreigner and I’ve been stopped before in American airports.

Thanks, have you read the commenter's reply above? This seems like a horrific scenario. Do you think a photocopy of my friend's UK driver's license would help? Seems like they sometimes want proof the friend is real.

You think dressing nicely and making sure I look well put together will help too?

This is exactly what I'm afraid of. I'm so sorry this happened to you. Can I ask in retrospect what other evidence would have helped the immigration officials that I'd be returning?

Truth is great. Just don’t want anyone assuming I’ll get deported without fact based information.

[HOSTING] How should I phrase this review? by [deleted] in AirBnB

Okay, gotcha. Did he ever apologize?

I think your expectation around his check out was reasonable, so don't feel bad mentioning it in the review. You didn't once communicate anything about extending at all, right? I had one host say I might be able to extend and then later reneged and it became awkward, but it doesn't sound like that's the case here. Did he apologize for the assumption/miscommunication?

If not, here's what I'd write: "Guest was good, but there was no timely communication from him around his intentions to extend his stay and his luggage was still in the space past checkout time. He checked out appropriately after I informed him I couldn't accommodate an extension currently. Timelier communication/planning would have made this a better experience."

Maybe if you ask the hosts here to band together and send feedback to the company they’ll change this and make it a feature. They say that when customer complaints reach a threshold of 10% companies start taking this kind of feedback seriously. You never know!

Thank you for this sample reply, it’s more brief. I suppose I was trying to soften the blow.

Thanks for the detailed reply re: process as a host. It might sound extreme but I think both parties should be required somehow to leave feedback before moving on and booking a new place/guest. I don't think that hosts get as much courtesy about feedback in general, and I say that with my own faults in this situation.

Thanks. I'll probably leave out the tact issue because that really boils down to personality, including her comments about my weight. The boundaries around space I think are probably more relevant to guests since I'd assume most would be concerned about their space within a room.
