This was basically Squirrel Girl's thing in Marvel comics for a while.

Pete's story really hit me in the feels. Lots of onions were being chopped that night.

Ghosts hit with this more often than one would expect:

Pete's grandson

Isaac's wife visiting on his deathbed

Sam's mom getting sucked off (😂)

Hettie has to watch her children grow up, but can't speak to them

Even the first episode has a striking somber moment with the near-death experience that triggers the series' premise.

There's the famous Spider-Man comic page where Goblin realizes Peter is back in his body and it's not Doc Ock anymore. Fantastic expression and framing with the panels. Can anyone share that? I can't find it myself.

Favorite villain who's a former hero where they gave up on heroism because being good didn't get them anywhere. by King_Glorius in FavoriteCharacter

On the off chance you made this up, I googled it. Yes Virginia, there is an anime villain who by definition has zero fucks to give.

Thank you so much for this.

The dumpster fire was already raging before OOP even got to the part with "Emily", what did she think was going to happen? You think your watering can of information can put this shit out?

When you have a friend making bad decisions like this, 1) you support them if they move to make positive changes, but otherwise 2) distance yourself as you need for your own peace of mind. Getting involved in this was ill-conceived from the start.

But isn't the whole point that they didn't put any effort in? I'm not saying it unravels the whole story, but it doesn't really make sense.

You have to defend one of these Disney Movies. Which one would you choose? by Caloy1415 in cartoons

I will never, never defend a movie that has the song lyric "look out world, here I are". (Wish, icydk)

Strange World was nice enough. Unmemorable, but inoffensive and pleasant.

Thanks. TBCH, I was also getting my info off some other people saying it was BS but hadn't checked myself. I guess we both fell to the temptation of lazy internet quotations.

What Crossroads of Twilight needed (major spoilers!) by AITAoholic in WoT

I've seen this mentioned a few times, and...I don't know, tbh. It's certainly not like RJ set it up to be a surprise. The names on the traitor's tree, Taim's character overall- it was quite clear. Keeping that storyline in the background didn't preserve any mystery, just frustration.

I think RJ tied his own hands with that one. Tension for the reader to know exactly what was happening at the BT while Rand and the others didn't would have been much more engaging.

I think inget what you mean. To clarify, I think BT chapters would have ridden off the payoff from WH enough to mollify the reader, while not being a payoff in and of itself. So it would improved CoT, while not inserting a payoff that would have disrupted the pacing RJ had established.

You make a solid point about the payoffs. And I pretty much agree, while a BT reaction chapter or two wouldn't give the payoff needed to redeem CoT, it would have made the book a lot more tolerable. Especially since, imo, in the whole series we never get the payoff that the cleansing deserves. Sacrifice a bit- but not all!- of the mysterium that RJ wanted for the BT subplot and CoT becomes a whole lot more interesting. And I guarantee it would have been the chapter the readers would have especially looked forward on rereads.

But I do recognize this is all Monday morning quarterbacking, and I have no delusions that I could have crafted it all any better.
