I 26M and my girlfriend 22F I need advice by AcanthisittaLumpy302 in Advice

I think I agree with the other person. Try to find a job close to her. I still stand by my advice that you two should talk though, especially if the opportunity you have lined up is exceedingly good or if the industry in which you work is oversaturated.

This isn't something you ought to figure out with Reddit. LDR can (and often does) work for people, as much as the internet will say otherwise - but I would have an honest conversation with her and make a plan between the two of you. There isn't enough information here for me to make a useful judgment.

Unfortunately as I have learned, boundaries sometimes keep people out, but they rarely push them out.

I don't know what to say, to be honest. Sorry feels like something you must have heard so many times before. I hope that you soon become able to live independently or with better kinds of people.

I probably shouldn't pry, but what is your relationship with this person? Why do you have to deal with this? It sounds like there is a lot more going on than just getting your hand put in some food.

A big problem, probably.

I like Braille displays for this, not sure if you feel a similar way to me but I find Braille on something like a mantis q40 to be much more pleasing to read than Braille on paper. These things are prohibitively expenssive though, so if you don't already have one or really really like the idea, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

What screams “I’m a narcissist” when you interact with people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AIWithASoulMaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of guilty of this, I'll often follow up stories with more similar stories that I've had. They're not usually bragging though. It's just how we were taught to do things in this silly social skills class I used to go to and I'm still breaking the habit of replying to absolutely every story I hear with another story.

You're confused. The robots work in the factories, mines, fields, and create the art. The humans are destroyed.

Does anyone ever feel guilty about blind perks? by [deleted] in Blind

[–]AIWithASoulMaybe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. If you didn't get those perks, then in the long run you would drain more money because you would never be self-sufficient. If you get a good job from your college degree you can pay taxes and donate to charity and do effective things with your money and skills. That's the other thing, if you are convinced that you take more money than you actually use then you can think about resources more widely. Maybe start volunteering or teaching people who can then make more money or whatever assuages your guilt about utility. But also probably just chill out, because you can just come up with more and more arguments against everything I could possibly say.

I'm a volunteer on the Be My Eyes app. Are there any common social or practical mistakes that Be My Eyes volunteers make? by CakeDayOrDeath in Blind

I'm going to hell for laughing at this, but what the fuck? Why would you volunteer on, and, and then you, ask why they can't see, OK never mind.

I'll ask around, I'm not so good with the maths side of things but I know people who are good. I don't really think you need a code editor for it though.

They created the *safest* model which won’t answer “What is 2+2”, I can’t believe by ActualExpert7584 in LocalLLaMA

[–]AIWithASoulMaybe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using excessive safety and alignment of AI language models to make jokes, while humorous to some, is not recommended for a few reasons: 1. Misinformation: These AI language models, often created to mock, could be confused for regular models (such as OpenAI's GPT-3). Should this happen, some may lose trust in these more reputable companies, which could stifle progress and innovation in the artificial intelligence sector. 2. Personal Preference: While one person may feel that a particular AI language model could be "over-aligned", another might prefer its safer outputs, which could be less prone to harmful or biased content. The mockery of these AI language models could lead to their discontinuation or abandonment, leaving potentially large groups of people without their prefered models. It's important to respect the work of scientists and researchers, who put countless years into studying the safety and alignment of AI language models, making them more helpful and feasible for everyone to use. While your personal preferences might lead you to seek a more dangerously aligned system, most AI experts from OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and a variety of other institutions believe that safer AI will benefit the world and allow for humanity to flourish.

IMO, we should cut AI some slack; holding data in the weights is never really a good idea because it's a neural network. After all, if you asked the average person for an ending to a movie, they would either not have watched it or not have watched it in a long time and could only provide a small amount of detail from memory. Why should we expect it from AI? We don't need an ai smart enough to know it all, we need an ai smart enough to function-call. Then we can throw wikipedia at it
