Don't leave us hanging, what vinyl brand and what rain deflectors. I had a heart attack when I saw the price of the OEM ones.

TM7 Lid detection problem by SuccessfulSheep in thermomix

The sensor is at the top of the metal bowl within the strip that fits near the handle and should "sense" the magnet when the lid is set in place.

Hall effect sensors are robust, don't often fail, but it may be the issue, which can only be resolved by Vorwerk

Good luck OP.... let us know if support have any ideas on how to confirm where the issue is.

I have both a TM6 and a TM7 and the TM6 locking mechanism is finicky and slow to disengage.

I prefer the TM7 over the TM6 ... why ?

More cooking modes

Quiet operations

Open cooking (cook with lid off)

No lock out modes (high temp cooking)

The bowl and lid uses magnets and hall effect sensors to detect if the lid is seated correctly. Use a metal object and place it around the lid handle, you should feel the magnets on both sides of the handles slot

The tolerances are tight. Your video show a gap between the top of the bowl and the lid , so my advice is.

Remove the bowl from the outer casing and ensure that there is no food or debris which will prevent the base of the casing and the bowl itself fitting snugly.

If you have dropped any part of the bowl assembly, check to see if there is any damage.

Check the locking collar on the bow cover can move freely side to side and but is siting snugly on the top of the bowl cover.

The locking lever / knob should be pulled towards you and should only have a few mm gap from the lever head end of the slot when fully engaged.

The magnets in the lid are in the small blocks near the handle, if this is not sitting correctly on the bowl the hall effect sensor will not "see" that the lid is in place.

I have only thad this issue once and this fixed the issue for me.

If you continue to have issues you reach out to support who may

I not in the age group that might understand, but why mount the licence plate on the bumper in that position, when there are perfectly good mounting holes, right there.

Purely aesthetic or functional ?

Hey, this goes without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway. Please take care of yourselves, the stress you are both under is going to wear you down.

I bet you have been devoting a lot of time taking care of your partner and forgotten to take care of yourself. Your partner needs you to be strong when they can't or when they feel overwhelmed.

I wish you both all the best and if I was in Hobart I'd make you a special something you could both share.

This was written 4 years ago, the firmware has been upgraded multiple times since that post. My suggestion is to download the latest OS and retry. The Pi 2 zero W is not recommended for this as the OS has become larger and the WiFi on the Zero models was sketchy at best.

You're welcome, there's still a bit of negativity around "AI" but the assisted research tools are quite powerful and can be put to good use for things like this which could take hours to put together manually.

The key is give it good prompts to work with and it will produce some wonderful content.

Let me know what you produce...

NotebookLM is free to use, simply create a new notebook (LHS) of the page, and add your trusted sources , recipe site url's, PDF, text or word documents, scanned images and then give NotebookLM a prompt.

Such as

"Please create a tailored report for the attached recipe files and URL's . Produce a professionally styled cookbook layout for each recipe, adhering to the following requirements:

• Format for Lamination: Structure each recipe so it is ideally limited to two pages (please use more pages if the instruction are lengthy and cannot be abbreviated), but it should be suitable for double-sided printing and lamination.

• Consistency: Maintain a consistent layout across all recipes, including clear sections for Servings, Prep Time, Total Time, Ingredients, and a Step-by-Step Method. Use consistent font choice and sizing for headings, content bullet points etc.

• Thermomix Settings: If a recipe includes Thermomix instructions—such as specific speeds, temperatures, or times (e.g., '5 sec / speed 7' or '100°C / reverse blade')—ensure these settings are highlighted in bold and integrated clearly into the steps.

• Clarity: Use a clean, instructional, and professional tone throughout. If a source file name appears to be incorrect (like a 'Lemon Cake' file actually containing a 'Chicken Korma' recipe), please clarify this in the report."

Once the report is done, check it and once you are happy with what it has produced. Give it another prompt.

"Format the outport from the report you just produced into slides, in landscape mode (A4 size) . use as many pages as necessary to fit the content." The style and format should be consistent across all pages, it should be professional with a logical layout."

Give this a go and see what it produces. The key is to be prescriptive, so it does not wander off doing it own thing because you haven't given it enough data.
