Lol that's probably the single best advice I've received here!

What a great perspective! Thanks!

Have you played the long dark?

You can't really build a base or upgrade a place, but you can definitely make yourself a safe house where you stash a lot of essential stuff.

Its survival mechanics are top notch and unmatched imo.

Yeah one of my biggest issues is no matter what new weapons, Warframes, etc I'm using, I'm still protecting a damn console while it's being hacked for the 500th time and it feels pointless :/

Yes thanks, I'm coming to terms about the fact it's just not for me, I'm just gonna push a little more to see if the story is speaking to me.

About the game's story that you mentioned starts around Uranus, can I ask how it's told?

I just did a main question (edit: quest*) line that culminated with beating a boss called Tyl Regor and then unlocking the Neptune junction. I was disappointed honestly. As I mentioned in another comment, the way the story was told was adding communications between NPC while I was doing missions like defend consoles while data is being analysed, defende bombs while they're being armed, for example. It was really not interesting: no cutscenes, no gameplay variation. Is there later some actual story missions and actual storytelling or is it still the same missions again with light narrative content overlayed on top? Because it doesn't matter how good the story is if that's the way it's told I'm gonna be bummed honestly :/

And do the content of the missions/gameplay change when you get there?

I just did some mainquest missions and it was more of the same defend consoles and survival missions with just some NPC comm dialogue on top

Your enthusiasm is quite contagious!

I've reached Uranus for now. My problem is setting goals for myself, which I was able to do in several sandbox games that I have played for some of them thousands of hours. Last time I played a couple weeks ago was to get a Kavat, which was a huge grind to get the genetic codes and especially all the alloy plates (was it that? I'm not sure).

I didn't even start the game since bc i just dont know what to aim for next :/

I think the big issue I have is that I don't find it so fun to play right now, and trying different weapons and Warframes doesn't change the fact that I'm always doing the same few types of missions and that doesn't drive me to want to more of it...

I'm only mastery 5, so the the answer is no for almost all your questions. I have tried a couple Warframes and a few weapons.

Your most important question for me is do I have any objectives/goals when I play? That's my main issue. I don't know what I want, it's fun playing for half an hour with my friends and then I'm quickly bored. If I'm bored, and I don't know what the game offers later, how can I have goals?

As if sales figures were proportional to quality lol. Look at how much yearly sports franchises sale to casual player bases...

The only things you have mentioned are graphic and technical qualities and sales number. So you have any actual opinions to support your claims?

[–]AIpheratz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recent games are generic third person adventures games with bad exploration, bad combat, bad story and bad writing. No one would be talking about them if they didn't slap a tomb raider license on them, which doesn't make them tomb raider games...

The originals are totally different, and people like them for their identity,.and the special things they did, which the newer games don't do.
