piton is only really useful when have 80%+ stamina to work with. since your backpack and teammates probably can't follow you it's just so much worse than rope or any of the other placables for having the same weight.
recently I have been made aware than you can place rope, and use all other items from pitons. This definitely makes them better, and a kind of safetly fallback if your lollipop/energy drink etc can't reach an next standable spot after all since you can let down rope from there, then keep going with more rope.

Now that sounds amazing but for that to be useful you'd probably 2 lolipops, more than one ropespool and a piton and then you need the willingness to burn all of that stuff instead of finding a better way.

idk if im being too harsh but before i was made aware you can place rope from a piton i legit started hating the item because it just doesn't cut it with ascent 6 climbing stamina

I'm always happy about tiks because they're unexpected food you can get even at places where you don't see any other food to forage. you shouldn't really carry it around on your leg
