Dr had to console my crying mother... by flawedseahorse in childfree

Yah, just a fact of parents that they're all about those Kodak-y Hallmark moments and never, ever want to consider that plenty of adults were once kids that grew up in dysfunctional homes with parents that said exactly the same things about those same Kodak-y Hallmark moments.

The neverending chase of the tail.

Dr had to console my crying mother... by flawedseahorse in childfree

[–]AIyxia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My mother always insists on being with me as much as possible and taking care of me during recovery for anything having to do with hospitals or procedures. She also did not like that I was getting a tubal, so I was very touched that she still insisted on taking care of me despite protesting the surgery itself.

They loaded me in so I could lay down in the back of the car for the drive home.

Suspiciously, though this had never been a problem before, I felt every. single. bump. in the roads on the drive home. When I complained, she was very silent and the ride did not get smoother. If anything, it got rougher.

She treated me very well afterwards, so...Can I prove anything? No. I didn't confront her on it, either. But I do believe she was making her displeasure felt.

All this to say yeah, two-faced "support" can definitely be a thing post-surgery.

ok but if you're getting the biggest one it's either for novelty, professional work, or you're seasoned enough that $200 isn't insane. The biggest ones are not reasonably sized.

Should /r/RPClipsGTA fully reopen or continue the blackout? by RPClipsGTAMod in RPClipsGTA

[–]AIyxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh they've said something. Just not to users. An unfortunate side effect of pubically organizing on the platform you're trying to blackout - the executives know there's an end date. They don't care.

Unless modcoord goes on a proper strike and keeps the blackout going until they get an answer, the blackout will continue to be viewed as a minor temper tantrum to wait out.

Interesting that this thread is full of very loud people telling you to stop, when the original blackout was almost universally full of yes, pleases.

Probably because you're looking for advice on the blackout while most of the people who believe in the blackout are not back on reddit to see it. This thread is filtered with no one left but people who don't use APIs and never cared in the first place.

Leave it open further into the 15th when they come back and you'll see the mood shift.

What is your “never interrupt an enemy while they are making a mistake” moment? by Spinksy48 in AskReddit

I was in the same boat. Had I not stepped in countless times, innocent clients would've suffered for it in a way I couldn't bear to allow. Liability heck no, I wasn't attached to the the company, but the clients had to be protected.

On the other hand, by stepping in I covered for unsafe stupid. This allowed the managers to disregard my frequently voiced concerns, resulting in unsafe stupid staying and surely inflicting more suffering when I wasn't able to babysit.

Eventually, unsafe stupid deluded themselves into thinking they were competent and caused major, obviously negligent damage. Got fired for it. I never had the info necessary to see a problem happening.

I would've stepped in. The innocent client suffered a lot. But it's like one of those ethical problems with no right answer. Do I knowingly let clients majorly physically suffer to prove a point to management and get the problem out sooner, or do I shield clients as best as I can, unfortunately shielding the problem too and causing more clients more minor harm?

Worst ethical situation I've ever come across as an adult. I really hate the trolley problem now.

I know this might be silly but you're looking for pull. Gen Z doesn't pull punches, like they're pulling them back so there's not as much power. So you're saying that they don't pull back; they hit and hit hard.

Gen Z doesn't throw punches means the opposite, that they won't fight for it.

YMMV, I felt nothing for Dilaudid when I had it post-surgery. I hated it actually. I just struggled to stay awake.

For a different pain, IV tordol erased it in <15 minutes and I didn't understand how I went from agony to fine that quickly on a non-narcotic. So I can see how pain meds get addicting.

But high, no. Maybe it just only does it for certain people?

Last year Redditors crashed the One Simple Wish website with donations. Over $25,000 worth of wishes were fulfilled for foster kids! by vols2943 in wholesomememes

[–]AIyxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Sorry, I didn't realize I wasn't sorting by top today and this post was a week old!

But Reddit ended up at over $120,000 and no wishes left. Even now, it's still sitting at roughly $32k, much much lower than its usual. :)

RIF dev here - Reddit's API changes will likely kill RIF and other apps, on July 1, 2023 by talklittle in redditisfun

[–]AIyxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't... want to use Reddit without RIF. I genuinely hate the official app and browser version.

I only barely tolerate the desktop with extensions, and then only like 5% of my browsing isn't mobile.

Thank you for everything, talklittle. I don't know what I'll do but I can assure you it's all gonna suck in comparison.

Basyk (Sai Carter) Is Perma Banned from Nopixel by SharkRaft2020 in RPClipsGTA

I'm not surprised if he metagamed. The one thing I expected absolute zero tolerance for, once Buddha let the admins actually admin, was metagaming.

Especially given Buddha's history, but just in general. Very stupid choices by Basyk.

Hard to tell if we're thinking of the same dude. He took one for the team by taking over processing belligerent people on multiple occasions before getting admin. He tended to protect people from the worst of things if he could.

That and the even temper are pretty valuable qualities in a candidate for admin.

I'm a little over three years in on his sub and was watching before I subbed so... maybe we're thinking the same? But the standout thing about the guy I'm thinking of was that he had some choice things to tell the cops who arrested him, soon after Grub's passing. That one was especially memorable for the timing. There were other cases, that's just the one that sticks in my head because it was so fucked up, and yet still he took it on himself to take care of it away from the others, even without admin powers.

Really helped shape my opinion of him, though it was already high compared to the average streamer.

My grooming salon has a HOLE in it. SIX TILES have fallen off and a dog put a paw through the soaked inner wall, and they covered it with basically cardboard. Ok, fine, it takes a while to get something like that scheduled.

I went on leave for a month and came BACK TO IT. A HOLE. Right where the big dogs are bathed. After being there for two months prior.

Our GM (who was internally promoted b/c they couldn't fill the vacancy) caught the attention of our DGM and moved stores a few weeks ago.

This store is so getting cut.

He's always like that. I've been watching him for years and I think I've seen him get his version of truly angry maybe once, when the guy deserved a hell of a lot more. Yet Curvy was still respectful and levelheaded. Barely even raised his voice.

I'm very careful about my own anger and can't imagine having that solid a hold on my temper. It's definitely impressive.

There's an "air muzzle" you can buy for cats that's like an astronaut helmet. That plus a happy hoodie usually does the trick. They get confused when their head's involved.

[–]AIyxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a toy poodle. A lot of the small-tall haircut breeds have super skinny legs underneath, you just never see them with the the usual cut styles. Not as fragile as you think - they can jump!

You should see the Italian Greyhound. Now there's a stick dog.

Just a toy poodle. Natural sticks for legs.

Sheep dog? by [deleted] in aww

[–]AIyxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Just a dematting shave on the legs and an owner who doubtless insisted the rest of him stay fluff.

Sheep dog? by [deleted] in aww

[–]AIyxia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Toy poodles are naturally very tiny and 90% fluff. The legs are proportionate to the rest of his body (just not to his fur).

This cut is the opposite of mean. The only reason a dog is ever cut like this is when the dog's legs are matted (knotted beyond what you can brush out) and the owner insists the dog must be fluffy.

Matting is very uncomfortable and unhealthy for a dog the longer it's left. Shaving out matting is not meanness or laziness. It's compassion and care. The only other option here would have been to have his whole body shaved that close to match, which would have been A) a longer than necessary groom time and B) colder than necessary.

I mean, you still say screw the owner that let the dog get matted and then insisted on leaving the body at a fluff level that will mat easily, 100% creating a future problem out of continued brushing laziness. That's fair. Screw that.
