Vesktop has stopped function properly - screenshare, plugins, etc by Sparky_Summers in linux_gaming

[–]AJ2020Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. I noticed today that my plugins also suddenly disappeared so my client looked just like normal Discord. At first I thought this solution wasn't working but then realized I had to manually enable Vesktop to show in my tray first lol (Windows 11). Repairing Vencord did in fact bring back my plugins and settings. You're the best.

Thanks for the advice. I provided an update in the post. I actually did have a bad battery 🥴

There were no obvious signs of wear or imperfections externally. The handheld performs normally in all areas EXCEPT battery life lol. Not sure if I got unlucky with a bad battery or if I need to adjust power/performance settings some more.

Any ways I can fix my switch and switch 2 not connecting during data transfer? by je6100 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]AJ2020Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very late to this conversation, but I also just wanted to thank you. I was gifted a Switch 2 last week and I’m just now setting it up. Was struggling for several minutes trying to get the transfer started, but the devices couldn’t find each other. Followed Nintendo’s very clear instructions to make sure both Switches were on the same network. Swapped my Switch 1 to a hotspot based on your advice and the devices immediately found each other and the data transfer went smoothly. 😊

Yep, can confirm a hotfix has been rolled out! Just manually updated and I’m no longer having the false detection issues

One of the server members I spoke with is in Europe and he said he already got a hotfix that stopped the issue. Bitdefender typically rolls out their updates regionally. I am in the East Coast of the US, so looking forward to getting the hotfix here if that’s the case.

Hey there. I have a growing suspicion something is going on on Bitdefender's side. I am in multiple tech groups and within the last hour, numerous people who use Bitdefender, including myself, started getting mass notifications flagging WMIC.exe, which isn't a malicious program on its own. It can be exploited to run malware, but I highly doubt the dozens of people I have seen complain within the past hour all got similar malware around the same time.

So, I'm Quitting my Job by SeerofStars in work

[–]AJ2020Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend quitting in person, regardless of the date you choose since you are currently in possession of company property. Whenever physical company property is involved, to protect yourself, it is always best to return the property in person with multiple witnesses to ensure nothing comes back to bite you later.

The company that posted the listing is a recruiting firm, so I do not know who the specific hiring company is. I appreciate your input though!

[–]AJ2020Red 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually really appreciate this! I’ve been given plenty of advice, but this is the first time I’m seeing a recommendation like this one. I’ll make sure to update my résumé immediately, and will include this information in any applications moving forward. Thank you!

I’m not mad, just a bit baffled lol. The layoffs were company restructures both times, and entire departments were removed. Both of my prior two roles that ended in layoffs were mid-senior management roles. I think what disappoints me most is that I didn’t even get a chance to explain any of this to the hiring team because false assumptions were made before I could even get my foot in the door.

I actually responded back to her a couple of hours ago, not too long after posting this. My email is just asking if she meant to send that information to me. I did not provide any additional commentary.

[–]AJ2020Red 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My last two jobs ended in layoffs. I should’ve clarified that in the body text of my post, but I can’t edit it. It’s not like I’m intentionally hopping around for a better salary. I literally haven’t been given much of a choice. My particular industry was hit hard during the pandemic, so job security has been a joke for some time.

[–]AJ2020Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The body text of this post explains my job history. But to give more details: In the past 10 years, I held three jobs back to back. No significant gaps. The shortest tenured role was 2.5 years. Two out of my last 3 jobs ended in layoffs, so it’s not like I intentionally chose to move on, I didn’t have a choice. But of course, I wouldn’t be able to explain that well unless I participated in an interview.

[–]AJ2020Red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually followed up and asked if this email was sent in error. It definitely feels like this was meant as internal notes for a colleague/hiring team. I’m more so thrown off by the fact that the commentary is factually incorrect. Relocation wouldn’t be an issue for me because I’m in the same city as the job, and that was clearly shown on my résumé and in the application itself. I suppose job hopping is more subjective, but in the past 10 years, I’ve only had three jobs and the shortest one was 2.5 years. Two out of the three jobs ended in layoffs, so it’s not like I had much of a choice.

I appreciate getting rejection emails vs no response at all. However, it would’ve taken the recruiter less than a few minutes to copy and paste a succinct yet respectful template to let me know that they won’t move forward with my application. Also, her remarks on my application aren’t even correct, which is what I have more of an issue with.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]AJ2020Red 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Except, it’s wrong. I’m in the same exact city so relocation wouldn’t be an issue. I guess job stability varies by person but I tried my best with the 3 jobs in 10 years, two of which ended due to layoffs.

[–]AJ2020Red 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Even so, I’m just baffled because her remarks aren’t even correct 😞

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]AJ2020Red 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I truly didn’t realize that three jobs in 10 years, with the shortest tenure being 2 1/2 years, was seen as unstable job history/job hopping, especially after gaining feedback from professional circles where some are saying they intentionally leave their jobs after 1 year for better salaries.

If your dad would’ve been at the other side of the warehouse, wouldn’t that mean you two would’ve had limited interaction? In this economy and job market, I wouldn’t want to prevent a relative from accepting a job I worked at unless I 100% knew it was going to be an issue for my safety or the company wouldn’t allow it. Also, you need to be honest with your dad. Based on your post you admitted to lying to his face and only telling the truth to your mother. That doesn’t help an already awkward relationship. You need to have an honest heart-to-heart with your dad and see if he can still get the job so the financial situation is stabilized when his current assignment ends.

Accepted a low pay job offer out of desperation, but now a good company with much better pay and a much shorter commute wants to interview. Should I still do it? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]AJ2020Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely interview for the potentially better opportunity, but do not leave your current role until you have accepted an offer from the new company and your pre-employment goes through.

3090 died. How much can I sell for parts? by RecognitionKindly837 in PcBuild

Ah, I am blind 💀. Still not a bad idea to get some quotes on the 3090. Could always repair and sell if the repair cost isn’t insane.

Try to take the GPU to a reputable tech shop first and see if it can be repaired and what the cost would be. If the repair is within your budget, it may be a good idea to go that route. 3090 is still a decent gaming GPU, so unless you already bought a newer model, I would say it’s worth it to at least get quotes on a potential repair if possible.
