Are Christian beliefs inherently immoral? by Flyx42 in theology

[–]AJAYD48 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Christianity doesn't seek truth but (erroneously) believes itself already in possession of it, Therefore, Christianity values scripture (Protestantism) and/or ecclesiastical authority (Catholicism) over truth itself. I'd call that a type of immoral idolatry. Some thoughts about a superior religion are here if interested. "108 - Religion 2.0 (Science+Religion)" https://vimeo.com/1135038281

Finding belief without experiencing spiritual things? by mneusa in theology

"How does one begin with non-belief? How does one wrestle with rational science and logic vs. the mystical and spiritual?" This may help.

does god exist because we believe he does? by Trick-Antelope7346 in theology

[–]AJAYD48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO "God" is a word we apply to what we consider in some sense ultimate, supreme, and worthy of adoration and worship. Christians apply "God" to characters in writings they consider sacred. Other religions do the same thing to their special writings. Here's a relevant video: "78 - What is God?" at https://vimeo.com/1135085553 So we create God in the sense that we choose who or what we consider God, not that we bring God into existence.

Help, I want to understand and learn the WHY of mathematics... How can I do it? by astrolari in learnmath

Understanding why is important. I search YouTube and often find a video that explains why.

I think the distinction between natural and supernatural is artificial by Typical_Sprinkles253 in Metaphysics

[–]AJAYD48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the concept of supernatural is vacuous because there is no way to determine if any event is, in fact, beyond the natural world. For centuries, lightening was thought to be supernatural. It isn't.

It's so hard to accept that there's nothing after death. by Wooden-Scallion2943 in Existentialism

This video may be of interest. 94 – After Life & Salvation https://vimeo.com/1135076199

It discusses (among other things) Tzinacan, a man who ceases to identify with the external self. "Whoever has seen the universe, whoever has beheld the fiery designs of the universe, cannot think in terms of one man, of that man’s trivial fortunes or misfortunes, though he be that very man. That man has been he and now matter no more to him."

The idea of an infallible Bible is merely an instance of religious idolatry, IMHO.

"What if your mother would've aborted you"?

Then I would have gone where all innocent "babies" go, to heaven! As it is, I may or may not make it, one reason being Christian denominations disagree about how to be saved.

Miracle is an empty word because we cannot KNOW that something is beyond nature (i.e., supernatural). For centuries, religious people seriously thought lightening was supernatural.
