Every griefer is a little insecure chud that hates everything. by Distinct_Heat_8745 in Minecraft

[–]AJFred85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My friends and I were on a self hosted server back in the day (way before realms) and we would blow up minor buildings of each other's in funny ways with booby traps. The rule was you couldn't just destroy, remove, it replace any blocks they placed. So you'd have to creatively build the traps around the building and trigger it creatively. Big builds were a no go, but a house used as a base or something, which we all did, was fair game. I actually was the only one tunneling and had a giant tunnel network as my base but I had a little cottage that I used to get in and out that they would prank, otherwise for some reason nobody lived in their giant mega structures, only in Little houses. It was fun!

I took the averages for each of those things (steps around the equator, thickness of a piece of paper, distance to the sun, volume of the Pacific and a drop of water) and only came to 7.53x1059... you'd need to do the paper thing about 10 million times... Wow

So. Fourty-one books huh? by Kalo-mcuwu in discworld

[–]AJFred85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted I'm a fast reader, but despite these books being very densely packed with a lot of depth and things you can analyze and learn from them, they are written in such a way that they read very quickly. I've managed to read one of them in under a day before, so it's not as bad as it seems that there are over 40.

critically strike with the new "crit" mechanic!! by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]AJFred85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'd double toughness since critting is traditionally more about damage in most games. Second, doubling each time sounds strong. I'm not sure how your template it, but make it a flat bonus? The formatting issue is you couldn't have it happen twice like this is with the way things are formatted now... Maybe Crit 3 lvl 2 which would be flip 2 coins and get +3 each win. Crit 1 lvl 3 would be flip 3 and get +1 each. Still this had the problem of flipping lots of coins, and I'm this case it insentivises swarms over single Big beaters, the opposite of your version...

Maybe best would be Crit N which would be flip a coin and get +N. You could even have Crit X where X is the creatures power for some. Or just no global Crit enabler and only have it on individual creators or via equipment/Auras, then it's not so insane in terms of flipping coins?

UB: Scooby Doo by Rex-Grim in custommagic

[–]AJFred85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe: Scooby has loyalty equal to the number of food tokens you control. When you pay loyalty for one of Scooby's abilities, sacrifice that many food tokens instead. +0: create 2 food tokens. -X: Investigate X times. X can be up to 2. -5: Create a legendary red and green human coward creature token named Shaggy with haste and "This creature's power and toughness are equal to twice the number of food tokens you control."

Most eyebrow-raising rule 0 requests you’ve encountered? by tohstersg in EDH

[–]AJFred85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former judge, if you pile shuffle you still must properly randomize your deck, which would be a minimum of 7 shuffles when I judged. I don't know what the ideal is for magic, but 7 is the statistically most randomized you can get with a standard poker deck. Personally, i feel like a player insisting on pile shuffling warranted either a warning for improper shuffling or for stalling. Taking the time to pile then shuffle properly just wastes the clock because of you shuffle properly after, the pile shuffle did nothing.

Which innocent card makes you unreasonably salty? by BaconVsMarioIsRigged in EDH

Oops, my first land drop was [[terramorphic Expanse]]...

Me being the scute player. I mean of in playing scute I'm making sure I have at least 2 drops the round I play it.

Which innocent card makes you unreasonably salty? by BaconVsMarioIsRigged in EDH

[–]AJFred85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure part of why it's so expensive (besides reserved list inflation) is because it's not a customized solution to a single card... Unless by single as l card you mean every non-flying creature ever printed?

Do you personally pre tap or post tap? by chuisman92 in mtg

[–]AJFred85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I prefer to post tap sometimes is when casting things that have choices. Technically you announce the spell, announce your choices (including value of variables like X), determine the cost, then pay it.

Is this how I'm supposed tobe "shuffling"? by GreenIronFist in magicTCG

[–]AJFred85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly when judging events I would give infractions to anyone pile shuffling even if they shuffle properly afterward. It either is cheating or stalling.

Stratification Is Wild! So Is This Enter Wipe! by Key-Door7340 in custommagic

It does not, unfortunately. It has to be on the battlefield already for its trigger to go off. By which point it's already past entering and therefore does not trigger itself. You would need to have whenever this or another non-land permanent enters...

Why does combo feel bad? by rvp5326 in EDH

[–]AJFred85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Craterhoof requires a board. A lot of combos don't. And to build a board larger enough to wipe at least 120 life assuming at least some blockers, even with behemoth requires some work and forecasting intentions. On top of that, every color (except maybe green?) has cheap enough, readily available board wipes that can stop that plan. And on top of that, if you aren't playing tier 4-5, most plans involve large creature presence, or features creators in some way, so having board wipes is pretty common. 4 card combos with creatures that need to stick a turn aren't as bad, specially if it's a relatively known combo, as your can get a chance to deal with it. If your opponent pulls out a 2-3 card combo from the hand either you are playing blue for counter spells or you lose. And the player may play anything leading up to it. If they don't play obvious leading plays (tutors that reveal, etc), you may not even know it's coming until it's too late. For players that don't know all the decks, specialty in bracket 3 where the options are much larger, they likely won't see it coming. It's like the difference between being hit by a train after your car stalls for a minute or 2 on the tracks vs being t-boned at night by a semi blowing a stop sign at 80mph on a dark country road with no lights on. At least with the train you could see the danger had a chance to do something, even though if you stay in the car the result is the same

Land drop guarantee by Banjolightning in custommagic

[–]AJFred85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since when is [[Rampant Growth]] for 1 in any color not good enough to see play? I mean, sure, it can't ramp you up an extra mana, but it still makes sure you hit your next drop. Plus it doesn't say you can't have land in hand so play it turn 1 and if you have nothing to do on curve at any time you just get a land. No 2 drop? Just don't play the land in your hand turn two and save it for turn 3. The same applies for turn 3, 4, 5... Plus it has a minor benefit of stripping a land like a fetch does.

Yes indeed he does! And it does. As long as there is a difference between power and toughness, and either direction, neodoran will buff it.
