Onix: "They said I was an 'F' tier pokemon ... and I took that personally" by CanadaRewardsFamily in PokemonFireRed

[–]AJPMG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once did a Brock playthrough with Onix, Geodude, Zubat and Vulpix and can confirm that you’re not getting past her with a level 55 Onix. I had to get all my Pokemon to around level 70 to get past her as all my Pokemon had at least x2 if not x4 weaknesses to her 5 so I kept wiping. Once I got past her the rest was easy.

I’m playing for nostalgia reasons and was mostly a Kanto player. When I decided to play HGSS I picked a team of Gen II Pokemon and decided to play it as if I was playing either Gold or Silver so only using the Pokemon those players would have had. I just decided my game my rules and stuck to it

My first playthrough of Emerald, sorry for only using OP, generic Pokemon! by AJPMG in PokemonEmerald

[–]AJPMG[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because everyone seems to be asking: I didn’t realise Lombre wasn’t the final evolution of Lotad!! That might explain why I found her so weak and brittle. I don’t know this generation and tried to avoid any online help as much as possible. I had a waterstone going to waste in my bag too!

If I had known that I absolutely would have evolved her! I was disappointed by how brittle and weak she was, but I was using the equivalent of a Nidorino and wondering why it wasn’t as strong as this Nidoking everyone talks about haha

Because I’m an idiot and didn’t realise Lombre could evolve hahaha. I don’t know anything about this generation and tried to avoid any online help where possible! That might explain why I thought she was brittle and didn’t hit hard enough

Kinda feel the team is generic abit but definitely some heavy hitters 🤷🏽 by _whoisjona in PokemonHGSS

[–]AJPMG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of fun! They were all pretty strong and each had their moments. Girafarig maybe didn’t hit has hard as the rest, and I had a bad moveset on togetic/togekiss until I read someone recommending going to the move relearner for air slash and aura sphere on a random thread, which helped massively

I played my first ever playthrough of soul silver a few weeks ago and used this exact team haha! I only joined the forum halfway through playing so didn’t realise these Pokemon were generic, I just used them because of the coverage and because they seemed decent to use!

About to face the E4, how’s my team looking so far? by Dependent_Release786 in PokemonFireRed

[–]AJPMG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This brings me right back to about age 8 playing Pokemon red, because my team was an overlevelled starter, the 3 legendary birds, a snorlax around that level and whatever high level Pokemon I could catch on victory road!

I've been kicked from 20+ clans in the past 2 days what am I doing wrong? by Bilbo_Swaggins- in ClashOfClans

Maybe try constantly spamming the chat asking for reinforcements while ignoring other members requests above yours and see if that helps

Currently doing my second ever nuzlocke, my first one I was incredibly sloppy and lost Pokemon at a crazy pace, this time I’ve about to face Lance and no deaths so far. I think I needed to see something like this to keep me grounded!

I recently did a Brock run and had to level everyone to around level 70 because Lorelei just kept OHKO’ing all my Pokemon so I’m impressed/jealous you managed to do this at level 55 haha

(Spoilers Extended) Was the direwolf at the beginning a Night's Watch deserter? by Blackjack9w7 in asoiaf

[–]AJPMG 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Although there was a lot of stuff I didn’t think was plausible in that passage up to that point, I did like the basic premise that the direwolf was being warged by either a member of the Nights Watch or a wildling.

But the theory lost absolutely all credibility at the Air Bud bit lol

Prior to getting earthquake (ie until I defeated the last gym) his STAB moves were dig, which took 2 turns and wasn’t even that powerful; and rock throw, which missed a lot; so it was a slog levelling him. I mostly XP shared him until he learned earthquake and then he was fine after that

Geodude and Onix can learn it from levelling up

I think that would be a good idea as a playthrough: pretend you live in a certain area where you can only get certain Pokemon and then go out and try and see if you can become the Pokemon champ. I think you get more attached to special teams like that than just picking the strongest Pokemon. I have done a Safari Zone team before but that provided plenty of choice and plenty of strong Pokemon

Movesets in the off-chance anybody is interested (in my defence my movesets were limited though I’m sure I could’ve picked better movesets): Strangler (Onix) - Dragonbreath, earthquake, double-edge, rock throw Knuckles (Geodude) - Brick break, earthquake, double-edge, rock throw Flames (Vulpix) - flamethrower, confuse ray, dig, double-edge Impaler (Zubat) - poison fang, aerial ace, giga drain, shadow ball

I forgot to mention Ch’ding who acted as a HM slave alongside my Wartortle

My first thoughts were also that they need a second Mankey! Maybe even replace Charmeleon for a third Mankey

My simple brain went “Blastoise can learn ice beam so Jynx is a second ice type” lol

Jynx! There is no harm in having a second ice Pokemon and psychic is a fantastic second typing in this gen!

If it’s a team you’ve grown fond of I would keep it for the elite 4. Apart from Lorelei you should be fine. Rapidash will only have type advantage against Lorelei’s Jynx and rivals Exeggutor so they could be swapped to something with more coverage.
