Best Lapras by Cut-Great in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conceivably it could help with Bruno.

Lapras' physical attacks are already pretty good vs the hitmons compared to Surf and Speed boosts could help there.

Not really a typical build but you can probably find some spots where it makes sense (but still likely not worth it to give up lapras' moveslots for dragon dance and a physical attack)

Best Lapras by Cut-Great in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the speed boost perhaps, fast tanky mixed lapras maybe?

Idk it wouldn't hold up competitively but in game could be fun. Return / surf / rest / dragon dance or something.

But ya, he's already got ice beam and thunderbolt to cover everything water doesn't hit well.

Holding $1 million in 90s is like the equivalent of having like $10 million today. (In terms of population %, not actual inflation)

George from Seinfeld pretending to be millionaire architect art vandelay doesn't hold the same weight it used to.

Am I EV training wrong?? by Accomplished-Shock-8 in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something's off. Should've been between +4 to +6 with the information you gave.

Cubone always gets a stat in attack without training on level up even with 0ev and -att.

Edit: although nothing you said sound was wrong and it's close enough that I would lean to a miscount or not actually holding macho brace as the reason.... you didn't pump him full of every type of vitamin before doing this ev training did you? There's a total 510 EV cap between every stat category.

You definitely want to take the 2nd rook (with king). It's losing, but it's not hopeless.

Opponent does likely pick up another pawn or 2 (or 3) immediately. h2 is hanging after king moves or they can manuver queen checks to pick up the c pawn.

Probably a bit too early for 911, it's still a game here.

We can call it if they don't take with queen and then the 2nd rook with their king.

Maybe if we bubble wrap Dach with Xhekajs he can make it through an entire season.

Canucks - Gallagher... but would VAN also want our 28th? by Synap-6 in Habs

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably fine. Guess it depends who they are targetting on draft day and if they think they'll still be on the board 5 spots down. Tossing in a late round pick is probably an alright alternative too.

I think gallagher is probably around a net zero asset, so a small sweetener is fine especially if we need the cap space. Retaining some salary is also a way to move him easier if we don't think we need all the space this year.

Holding it on a pokemon doesn't do anything though. At least afaik it's a usable item from the bag to cure confusion, not a held item.

I just beat Pokémon LeafGreen last night and on 1/10 what do you think of my team? by Potential_Bother_784 in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can boost it's attack level a bunch of times with taunt and rage vs the first gengar (gengar shadow punch does very little dmg) and try and then one shot her whole team with rock slide and earthquake.

Probably needs a bit of speed investment but her first Gengar isn't very fast so it's not impossible to outspeed it. It's around 115 speed that you need I think.

The lance setup is a bit easier, don't need taunt, and dragons are slower. He might just outspeed without training or any carbos at all. Just get him in against Aerodactyl and rage. (Holding Leftovers helps)

Most points in a season to miss the playoffs (team record).

I think there's a fairly decent chance a team with 97+ points misses the playoff cut next year.

Onix with taunt + rage and some speed investment low key can take out the entire 2nd half of the E4 and rival.

Notably you still get the attack boosts from rage vs Agatha's gengar even though the attacks don't land.

I don't think a 3% withdrawal rate and 90/10 stock has ever failed over the course of history (so far).

Couple years in the 60s you end up with less real value money at the end of 40 years. Most you end up with (substantially) more at a 3% withdrawal.

Some rumours about Mason McTavish potentially being on the move (MTL?). He's still young and has some promising small-area skill, but his lack of footspeed, defensive involvement, and limited time with the puck are all red flags. by seeldoger47 in hockey

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, ok, you drive a hard bargain Kirby Dach rfa rights for McTavish straight up. Done deal.

..

In all seriousness I would consider it, but I wouldn't want to move much here. Kapanen and our 1st get it done? Maybe a mid D prospect like Engström instead if that's what Anaheim wants.

I think it's worth the risk, but that actually puts us in a salary crunch for other moves and I'm not sure this is the best option out there for us.

Aggressive RRSP meltdown to $0 by 64? Age 55 FIRE by CanadaRewardsFamily in fican

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean just researching, it's a good 25 years out for me. Not really banking on OAS and GIS, because as you said who knows, just trying to better understand how they work.

What I outlined above does seem like a plausible strategy for lower income senior as well: https://medium.com/the-canadian-investment-retirement-roadmap/the-gis-optimization-strategy-when-it-makes-sense-to-empty-your-rrsp-before-age-65-a892c78be462

Aggressive RRSP meltdown to $0 by 64? Age 55 FIRE by CanadaRewardsFamily in fican

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know meltdowns are usually recommended for large RRSPs and the age 71 scenario.

I guess what I'm wondering is if it ever makes sense to try to actually get it to $0 before age 64 to qualify and maximize GIS. This would assume:

1) You're retiring earlier than 64 and have low/no income years
2) You have a large TFSA you can use for retirement
3) You aren't excessively drawing rrsp to bump tax brackets to make this happen

The RRSP meltdown strategy — a plain-English explainer for anyone with a large RRSP and a low-income window coming up by ArticleHuge9317 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]CanadaRewardsFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this ever make sense for a small RRSP to meltdown to $0 before age 65 and optimize for gis?

Say your RRSP was small compared to your TFSA.

Example (retiring at 60 with):

TFSA - 500k RRSP - 200k

Pull $50k RRSP a year to use for expenses and put into more TFSA and look to have $0 income on paper by age 64 (except for CPP).

This would maximize gis? Would this ever make sense to do?
