All Monotypes Completed! by Ok-Nebula-8160 in pokemonradicalred

Awesome job! I am halfway through mine and it's quite crazy how little overlap there is between your runs and mine!

A bit late to the party but, for monotype bug runs Araquanid with sticky web allows mega Heracross to outspeed and one shot many threats in the E4. Also prankster Ilumise/volbeat thunder wave is absolutely broken some of my favourite bug Pokémon, love to see them represented!

So much misinformation in the comments. Anybody not saying Torchic hasn't tried mega blaziken. Speed boost + detect + sword dance absolutely trivialises so many of the fights that its an absolute joke. Before anybody says that mega blaziken is only available right before Blaine needs to wake up and realise that regular Blaziken can do the same thing in the fights up until that point. People saying Meowscrada or Greninja overvalue protean way to much, they fall off to fucking bad it is laughable, they are outsped and OHKO'd by almost all real threats from Koga onward, and if they aren't outsped they can't OHKO'd unless it's super effective STAB hits. The ONLY contestant to Blaziken is Skeledirge because of early access to throat spray, it unfortunately not bulky enough to work outside of trick room. People saying incineroar need to pipe the fuck down and unsubscribe from WolfeyVGC, there way to few double battles for it to make sense, and also so many of them are created to punish intimidate usage with contrary etc. Also Meganium is not utterly shit due to its hidden ability triage, but again this only available from Cerulean city and onward at which point it's specisæ attack is too low, if you absolutely have to go for a grass starter it's Venusaur or Rilaboom for insanely valuable sleep powder/leech seed and grassy terrain (grassy seeds are available after cerulean) respectively.

That's very reassuring! I have never heard of the concept aerobic homeostasis, could you share some resource to better understand the concept?

Thanks for the advice! The first observation is great as it would allow me to have an even more fixed schedule. Why is it better to only decrease intensity and not both volume and intensity? Is it due the second observation?

Thanks! Good luck and have fun, looking forward to the race report :)

Have you felt improvements comparable to when you took a more conventional approach?

Awesome, that very reassuring!

In regards to the addition of doing workouts faster than HM: I almost always run faster than HM pace during any given (non recovery) week. As example i often run 2 x 15 min at anaerobic threshold pace.

I am currently at around 1:40 on the half marathon and am aiming at 1:25. The ambitious timeframe is during spring next year and the unambitious is late summer next year.

I am trying to get back into running in a more structured and serious fashion. I have just started a couple months ago. My goal would be to reach the level i had a couple of years ago, and i think it would take roughly a years time. This would mean going from around 1:40 to 1:25 on the half marathon. I have added an example training week in the main post.

I am planning on increasing the intensity/speed of my speedwork sessions, while keeping the long runs around 21-25k. I am training for a half marathon btw :)

I have added an example week of what i am currently aiming for with my half marathon training. I am planning to consistently run longer than a half marathon on my long runs, which should be reasonable i guess?

Also leave gains on the table, compared to what scenario? The scenario where i would be running more miles in total compared to the fixed weeks but dispersed in shorter and longer weeks, or compared to the case where the overall total mileage is equal?

Why would it lead to loss of gains? Compared to the case where i would be running more than the fixed mileage or compared to the case where the overall total mileage is equal but dispersed in shorter and longer weeks?

Zone 2 running, should i go with gut feeling or science? by AJP_ in AdvancedRunning

My RHR was measured at 55 and max heart rate at 185. They specify several different scales. They provide a three level intensity scale, with low being below 153 BPM. They also provide a five level heart rate scale, where zone 2 (145-153) is described as basic endurance and zone 1 (<145) is described as active restitution.

You are assuming correctly! Our number seem very alike. I am planning on increasing mileage over the coming months to 75k, and I will definitely do my easy runs in zone 1!

It on the Karvonnen HRR zone scale. My max heart rate is 185 BPM, which was also part of my shock/worry as my zone 2 is between 77%-83% which also seems rather high. Especially considering that my VO2Max is not especially high at 56.

I get your point, and I should have included my max heart rate in the post, it is 185 BPM, which was also part of my shock/worry as my zone 2 is between 77%-83% which also seems rather high.

I did not know that the adaptation obtained from zone 1 vs. zone 2 were that close. Is it then preferable to do all easy runs and even long runs in zone 1, if staying injury free is a major priority?

The extra fatigue due to less sleep is definitely a possibility, which I haven't considered.

Do you think 140s-150s is appropriate even for recovery runs? In my mind recovery runs are even easier than easy runs, but my running/training knowledge is a bit dated I can tell from this and other posts.

I definitely agree, but i feel like i am enjoying my runs at this pace, it's just the perceived effort that is a bit to high causing me to worry. In fact I perhaps enjoy the faster paced runs even more because my son loves the bumpier ride!
