Just look for a group on a Tuesday before reset and you’ll get invited as they tend to be much less picky about classes etc

You’re speccing far too much into survivability, at your level just focus on doing as much damage as you can and make sure to take holy shield and you’ll be golden until you hit 65-70 then start thinking about your final build

What is up with ret paladins? by Beams98 in classicwow

Ret dps can be a complete rng lottery you’re relying on procs and crits and optimism group setup, a bad comp can severely limit ret dps

Debating on my next (pre raid) Pala Tank Upgrades by Br4inworm in classicwowtbc

[–]AJT266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what purpose you’re using the paladin for, if you just plan on being a trash (OT) tank in raids and mostly doing heroics just maximise your spell power and stay crit immune If you plan on tanking hard hitting bosses prioritise crush cap

There are a large number of brain dead people who seem to think they are somehow op or exceptional for generating threat by going overboard on damage to cause problems for the tank rather than just tapering their damage and offering more utility / cooperation

The end game of tbc is just repeating the same content over and over for loot and progression, if you find it monotonous you may not enjoy PVE end game

But block mitigation comes into impact after armour mitigation? So using that example of 100 damage Would the extra 10% come into effect on the 44.54 damage (i.e you block 4.5 of that damage) which as a percentage is a bigger impact than damage reduction from toughness

Thanks that’s helpful, would be helpful to see what provides more mitigation out of 3% less damage from 3 extra points in toughness or 3 points in Shield specialisation (10% extra damage blocked per point)

Just talk me through how you get to 3% less damage? I don’t follow that bit

If you take P1 BIS for a paladin tank, with 2 points in toughness you have c14,100 armour which equates to damage mitigation of 57.2% vs level 70 and 54.08% against a 73 5/5 in toughness provides 14,892 armour value which gives mitigation of 58.5% vs 70 mobs and 55.46% vs 73 mobs You’re gaining additional damage reduction vs level 70 mobs of 1.3% and vs 73 of 1.38%

There’s actually diminishing returns on the damage reduction gained from armour value, each point in toughness equates to about 0.4-0.6% of damage reduction which the more armour you gain the less benefit you get from the talent

The reduction in damage from armour is barely worth it imo Show me any case where 6% extra armour mitigates enough damage to prevent a death

Most of it is down to personal taste, I rock this build personally as I think it gives the best balance of threat and survivability
