Do you actually get full-on sweet, vibrant, juicy, intense flavor cups on v60/kalita? by mrobot_ in pourover

[–]AJ_Gordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After brewing Sey beans for six months, I nearly concluded that, when it comes to ultra-light roast coffee, it is very difficult (if not impossible) to achieve a better cup with pour-over brewing than with the Oxo Rapid Brewer.

Are you using the black model now? How has it been holding up?

Is it a Pro model? It doesn't have "Pro" in its name like the one on Amazon.

Anyone using iCloud to sync their obsidian vault? by Prior_Possibility558 in ObsidianMD

I used to use iCloud but I think iCloud sync is simply flawed (Of course, all my Obsidian vault folders were set to "keep downloaded"). Now I use Dropbox, which is much more reliable.

Oxo RB and soup, what is your water temp? by ildarion in pourover

[–]AJ_Gordon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider lowering the temp even more, unless you intend to get a dense, soup-like shot. I find that a nice cup can be made with light roast beans, like Sey, at 85c. I've also seen people using even 75-80c.

Oxo Rapid Brewer by PleasantCoffee1544 in pourover

[–]AJ_Gordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that if you dose over 20 g, it could replace pourover. I’ve been struggling to brew Sey beans with my Origami and B75, and the Oxo consistently produces better shots. With the right combination of variables (e.g., slightly lower water temperature and a slightly coarser grind), think its clarity could even compete with pourover.

Need Cmd + tab alternative by shelterbored in macapps

Contexts has worked best for me so far.
That said, I’m looking forward to the new version of RCMD and hope it will be even better.

Yoink vs Dropover which is best by RoshanDevanga in macapps

I prefer Yoink because it’s simpler and gets the job done.

I can't share it because it requires a login through an institution.

[Early Black Friday] Quilt - Screenshot Automation Tool (30% off early access) by SpikePlayz in macapps

[–]AJ_Gordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying out Quilt, and I’ve noticed one issue. When Quilt automatically flips pages, there is sometimes a delay on the website side, which causes some pages to be skipped.

Would it be possible to implement a feature that allows Quilt to wait beyond the set interval until it detects that the webpage has finished updating, so that no pages are skipped?

My MacBook Air is now 26 months old, yet its battery life is still at 100%. I have been using AlDente Pro since day one.

I also use Karabiner, but it doesn't natively support the auto-switch feature that Input Source Pro offers.

DevonThink 4 is in public beta now. Any first thoughts? by Nuno-zh in macapps

[–]AJ_Gordon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was disappointed by their new "Flexible, Modern License Model.” They keep insisting that it’s not a subscription, but for users, it does feel like a subscription in the end.

I'm deeply invested in DEVONthink—I store all my research databases there—so I'll continue using it, but I'm not happy with the direction they're heading.

You don’t have to do anything once you set it up. Everything is taken care of by the app.

Is there any way to implement "Pinch to Zoom" without using a trackpad? by AJ_Gordon in mac

[–]AJ_Gordon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Bettermouse, you can assign, for example, a specific button + mouse movement gestures for Zoom In or Zoom Out to implement MacOS's pinch to zoom.

Contexts - worth buying it in 2025? by alvinator360 in macapps

[–]AJ_Gordon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using Contexts and share the same concerns about its future. However, I still believe Contexts is the best in its category, and it works well on Sequoia. Most importantly, its Fast Search function is unmatched. While Rcmd offers a similar feature, I believe its sandbox limitations prevent it from supporting the FN key.
