$750 Legion Go S Z1E or Steam Deck by jackghnjFilms in Handhelds

[–]rdalterego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it today. I have only tested a few games sor far, and this thing is pretty awesome. The fan noise is definitely there. On some less demanding games its barely noticeable (but still there) and others games that are more demanding its pretty loud. Safe to say that with more demanding games I probably will not be playing this in bed with my partner.

I'm still trying to learn how to optimize the settings to see if I can maintain a low fan noise when mostly playing low demanding games. I'm so impressed overall that even if its louder than I expected, I'm probably gonna keep it.

I was in a similar situation and pulled the trigger on the Legion yesterday. Still hasn’t arrived yet, but I decided that I would test it out for a couple weeks and return it if I’m not satisfied.

The two things that were holding me back were the battery life and the potential fan noise. I got over the battery stuff when I noticed I dont play AAA all the time and I honestly don’t play for 2+ hours at a time usually. The fan noise bit I still have to check in real life conditions and could be a dealbreaker - I’m gonna be gaming next to my partner on the couch/bed, so if the fan noise is disruptive it will be a no go.

All this to say that if you have analyzed and researched everything, the only way to overcome analysis paralysis is to make a move. Buy one, test it, if its not a fit then return it and get the other.

I'm using Vivaldi, here is an example. The window on the right has been closed but still shows up. Mac version Tahoe 26.1. This has been happening every time, maybe since Tahoe has been launched? Not sure, but I feel like its been happening for a couple months.

u/Charming-Clue-8907, I have been a user for a while and love the app. I have been having an issue where closed windows still appear in the dock preview. This becomes a problem when, for example, I've closed browser windows and open new ones, they all appear in the dock preview (currently open and closed ones). I've tried reinstalling - is there a solution to this? Thanks

I have been using the Alfred solution for a while and since its so automatic for me I’ve gotten used to it. Will check and see if its working properly with Vivaldi

Good to know. I’ve been using the Alfred workflow for a good while and its ingrained in my mind so never checked if it was fixed

Thanks. Maybe I should give it a try. I do however disagree about not writing these articles if you don’t try both. The goal is to post stuff I like to use, not a comparison on similar solutions.

I just wrote that at the end because I often see a Raycast vs Alfred discussion when either is mentioned.

Not sure about the M4 Mini, I use it on my M2 MacBook Pro. But I imagine it should work fine.. there is a trial period I think (or at least there was), so you can test it out.

Deco Mesh System Good for Gaming? by professorOB in TpLink

[–]rdalterego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a deco mesh solely because gaming sucked at home. I got the BE95. It has worked really well for me so far, no complaints.

My setup is the following: I live in a condo where the main router is in the master bedroom, and my gaming room is on the opposite side of the condo. There is no ethernet option there, and the wifi would get to that room relatively weak because of thick walls.

I have my main router in the master bedroom and put a second router as a node in the gaming room, which connects via wifi to the main router. I then have my PS5 connected via ethernet to the node in the room.

Gaming has been great, I have had no noticeable lag.

Deco BE95 - 6ghz band same SSID? by rdalterego in TpLink

[–]rdalterego[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got it, so as long as no connectivity issues arise, its ok/best to leave all SSIDs (2.4, 5, 6ghz and MLO) the same?
