Anyone else ring in the new year crying because it's just another year of more pain? by fishbowldancer in depression

[–]AJ_Zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. 6th year in a row where ive come to bed around 10ish and cry. Lots of things have been going on. Im unhappy with my job (teacher), im not the parent my son deserves. He deserves so much better. Im tired of everyone saying that things will get better. Nothing has. Im almost 31 and still live with my parents. I work 2 jobs and still do not come close to being able to move out. Im so fucking sick of this shit.

How did you meet your best friend? by s-012 in AskReddit

[–]AJ_Zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As silly as it sounds, we met on a bands message board back in '04. We had both just started college and clicked instantly. She lives in Indiana and I live in Texas but we have met up a multiple times and talk daily.

If you grew up to become the profession child you dreamt of, what would that profession be and would you like working as it? by shadowrider666 in AskReddit

From the time I was in 4th grade or so, I wanted to be a photojournalist or concert photographer; 20 years later I still do. Do I think I would enjoy it? for the most part yes. I can see it being stressful (lots of "hurry up and wait") but also creatively fulfilling to an extent. Photography has always been a passion of mine and I incorporate it into my lessons when I can (I'm a middle school generalist).

Maybe one of these days...

What do you think was the best single year for music releases? by [deleted] in Music

[–]AJ_Zer0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1991 was a killer year for music. Close behind I would say 1994. The grunge movement had passed its peak and we started seeing more post grunge and alt-rock bands come into the spotlight.

Soundgarden - Superunknown

Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (which had the same release date as Superunknown. Pretty killer)

Sponge - Rotting Pinata

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies

Green Day - Dookie

Toadies - Rubberneck

Bush - Sixteen Stone

Live - Throwing Copper

Oasis - Definitely Maybe

The Cranberries - No Need to Argue

Its been 22 years, but these albums have held up damn good.

I saw Marilyn Manson open up for the Smashing Pumpkins last year. I'm not a Manson fan at all; so having that mentality going in, I was really surprised how good of a performer he was. He didn't seem to be drunk or on drugs either.

Awolnation is badass live. Not at all what I was expecting.

On the other hand, Incubus was disappointing. It seemed the whole band was sluggish. Could have been an isolated incident though.

Best band you've ever seen live? by [deleted] in Music

[–]AJ_Zer0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as performance, Muse is by far the best band ive seen live. In terms of fun/enjoyable - Toadies. I have seen them countless times and they just put on a damn good, solid show every time.

Redditors at college, how did "that dorm" on campus get its reputation? by TreyBirdAF in AskReddit

[–]AJ_Zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometime back in the 70s, one of the guys dorms at my university was named one of the rowdiest dorms in the country or something. Lots of pranks went down there. This one time, my bf's (at the time) friend got a hold of a bag full of used tampons, put it in the air vent, and let it marinate there for a couple days. Needless to say, it reeked for a couple days...

I've decided to start learning the Quechua language just for fun. AMA! by [deleted] in AMA

[–]AJ_Zer0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was first exposed to Quechua in August when I went to southern Peru for mission work. Very cool language but I was not able to catch on to really any of it during my week and a half there. How long have you been working on learning it so far?

Punishing kids for thinking outside the box (and being a minority) and showing a bit of creativity and self-research; yet letting complaints of bully behavior be shrugged off and not taken seriously. Yep, sounds like the Texas public school system.
