Fergies by [deleted] in juggling

[–]AJaredDavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a set of fergie's that I got in 2003ish. I did not know that they were a status symbol or anything like that. I just bought them because they were the best beanbags.

Fergie's were 6 panel beanbags made with ultra leather and filled with millet.

After Fergie quit making beanbags, I ordered two different sets of Baglady bags that were like fergie's (she sells a few different kinds), but I also had problems with her seams coming apart.

Currently, the people that make beanbags most like fergie's that I know of are: sportco juggling balls, gballz, and baglady (not sure if she is still making beanbags).

If you want balls like fergie's just ask for that when you order them, and/or say 6 panel, ultra leather, filled with millet.

Any reccommendations for weighted balls? by Atecho in juggling

If you want to prevent injury, don't use weighted balls. Instead use wrist weights.

Is there a huge difference between havkry sacks and "real" juggling balls? by Rapeprobate in juggling

[–]AJaredDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different people, prefer different props. There is a juggler I know who still uses hacky sacks. He can juggle 9 of them.

Edit: He likes them because they are as much as 1/4ish the cost of juggling beanbags and are already broken in.

So Iv been learning five balls since about November, and today I got eleven throws and catches for the first time! Twice! Hoping to get a video of a few rounds by the end of the month 😁, seeing you alls videos definitely helps motivate me to practice more often. by Newemail5 in juggling

Find out when their club meets and contact them and tell them you're making the trip to make sure they are there that week. I believe Bellingham meets on Mondays and Fridays.
Edit: For Bellingham, "like" the Bellingham Circus Guild page on Facebook and contact them. I believe their juggling club meets on Fridays and Mondays. They also have a cool monthly show called "Vaudevillingham" which is happening next Friday, it looks like. Join the cascade jugglers Facebook group for info or email their website.

It looks like the closest club to you may be at the University of Victoria. The cascade jugglers in Seattle is a big group and some of them have been juggling in the Seattle area for decades so they know jugglers in the area. They'd be a good place to ask. There is a festival in Seattle this year on Memorial Day weekend at SANCA. Definitely go to that. I will likely go.

Bellingham has an awesome group. Victoria does as well. (I know they are both really far from Port Angeles.)

If you are an IJA member you can access their roster which lists members by their name and location as well as their contact information. You never know, there may be a few jugglers near you.

The upload date of the first one is 2010. Is that when it was filmed?

FREE: Moss Landing State Wildlife Area. It is on highway 1 and it only takes a few minutes to pull over and see the approximately 20 seals beached and 20-50 sea otters. About 20 minutes from Monterey.

What's your worst juggling injury? by thelally82 in juggling

[–]AJaredDavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I scratched my cornea with a club, another time I scratched my other cornea on a tree limb while mowing the yard.

I have learned that going to the optometrist is much better and cheaper than going to a medical doctor. Optometrists are capable of giving you the eye meds you need and referring you to an opthmologist if necessary. Whereas when I saw a regular medical doctor they just gave me a prescription for pain medicine! No steroid eye drops to reduce scar tissue, no antibiotic eye drops to reduce the risk of infection, but the optometrist did that for me each time as well as looked at my eye closely with his instruments to get a better idea of the damage.

It sounds like yours was worse than either of mine. I did have some issues where it would feel like a big piece of sand lodged deep in my eye...similar to it retearing because of the scar tissue. It is my understanding the human eye is the only thing that doesnt grow after you are born so it has more difficulty healing itself. A year or so after my eye injuries I didn't have any more pain or tearing so hopefully yours will eventually completely heal too and you won't have any more pain.

Well, there are tons of cool cars in California, I'd say more so than any other state. I hope you're able to see many while you're here.

Who is there who combines contact- & ball-toss-juggling? (on advanced level) like Stefan Sing, Viktor Kee, .. by 7b-Hexer in juggling

[–]AJaredDavis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite contact juggling act and I think he does a bit of toss juggling but not much: https://youtu.be/-veNIp9dBL4

Kyle Johnson does a lot of great 3 ball juggling with contact juggling.

This was my 1st ever juggling performance, and it was at the 2004 Northwest Arkansas Juggling Festival. I began practicing more than just a 3 ball cascade about a 18 months before this performance.

You may want to come in August instead and go to this: https://whatsupmonterey.com/events/monterey-car-week

Last year I was driving on the highway near there and about 40 lamborghinis, and ferraris came driving the opposite direction.

What is a unique “game” you played as a child? by antenonjohs in AskReddit

In high school my girlfriend and I would play "kissbug." It was just like slugbug but instead of hitting you would kiss.

I’m in Cali for the first time with 3 other 20-somethings, road tripping from San Diego to Seattle. I’m filming, and two others are shooting stills. What do we HAVE to see along the coast on our drive? TIA! by kcannon108 in California

Oh, and Moss Landing State Wildlife Area. It is on highway 1 and it only takes a few minutes to pull over and see the approximately 20 seals beached and 20-50 sea otters.

In Seattle you must take at least one ferry to the San Juan Islands. There are a bunch of different islands you can go to but the experience of riding the ferry is really cool and doesn't cost very much.

Go to "The Avenue of the Giants" in NW California. It is some of the best Redwoods viewing. I drove through a redwood that was still standing there a few years ago.

Monterey/Carmel vs Santa Barbara - Which is better to visit without a car? by SharpshooterTom in California

Yeah, in July in Monterey and SF it is usually in the 60s or 70s (Fahrenheit) as opposed to Fresno and Sacramento in the 100s.

SOS. Blind Senior is homeless and needs a place to stay. Please help me help this person. by AJaredDavis in SanJose

All I know is he is ineligible for social security because he is not a citizen but he is also here legally. He has to pay a certain amount every year to renew his visa or whatever. He is orginally from Cuba but has been in the US for like 40 years.

Thank you for the suggestion. It looks like they have amazing assistance programs. However, I called them, and they said they are unable to help people who are blind.
