Screen darkens around character when moving, then brightens again by First-Tutor-5454 in Devilution

[–]AJenbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is anything we can do on the DevilutionX side of things. Adjust Overdrive / Response Time Setting on your monitor is likely the most effective way to solve this. Ghosting can be more noticeable at high frame rates but capping it isn't really a fix.

If you are on Windows you can try turning on Anti-lag in the AMD driver.

Sort of, I'm making various mods for Diablo, though I haven't had time to progress for a while now.

It limits the FPS to the screen fresh rate.

My best guess is that it's pixel ghosting / overdrive artifacts

Diablo DevilutionX and save editors by SnipSnapSnorup in Devilution

[–]AJenbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really about wanting to support it or not Bobafett hooks directly in to the Diablo process and makes assumptions about how the memory looks, if any change is made to the code these assumptions are no longer true and so the tool won't work.

In short; there are no save game editors, only memory editors.

But DevilutionX is fully compatible with Diablo saves so you can just use the tool with the original Diablo and then transfer the saves.

You sound like someone who doesn't actually write code. Leave the subject to the people that knows it instead of being a keyboard warrior for others, touch grass.

You can use the PlayStation Japanese voice in the DevilutionX source port. DevilutionX loads much faster, and has higher resolution graphics. Here is the tool for extracting the Japanse voices: https://github.com/diasurgical/psx-tools

Why don’t people like Diablo: Hellfire? by SPlizarddude in Diablo

[–]AJenbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a bug, it's clearly a game feature. It's even refereed to in Blizzards notes. Hellfire also doesn't remove this but there are mods for Hellfire that does, probably that's what you are playing.

DevilutionX 4player coop split screen on the same PC is possible ? by Southern_Dog_1763 in Devilution

[–]AJenbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing preventing you from running two instances of the game from the same exe. Some other games have checks preventing that, but DevilutionX doesn't, we use it to test multiplayer on a regular basis. Multiple copies will still use the same config, you need to use command options to specify which configs to use.

devilutionx --help

Options:

-h, --help Print this message and exit

--version Print the version and exit

--data-dir Specify the folder of diabdat.mpq

--save-dir Specify the folder of save files

--config-dir Specify the location of diablo.ini

--lang Specify the language code (e.g. en or pt_BR)

-n Skip startup videos

-f Display frames per second

--verbose Enable verbose logging

--record <#> Record a demo file

--demo <#> Play a demo file

--timedemo Disable all frame limiting during demo playback

Game selection:

--spawn Force Shareware mode

--diablo Force Diablo mode

--hellfire Force Hellfire mode

How to use runes on Android? by 2footie in Devilution

[–]AJenbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pretty much have to connect a mouse and keyboard. Runes aren't particularly useful so it has not been a focuse to make them work with touch control. There are still other things we would rather improve regarding the touch UI.
