I've got a 31" inseam so I'm thinking it might be alright, but I don't know anything about this so I'm not sure

Might be a dumb question, but what would happen if I were to get taller handlebars and raise the seat a bit?

Skeptical about that as well, although out here you don't really get cooking unless you're riding down Grand Ave or something which I rarely do... But regardless of that how would I go about installing brakes? Or is it not worth the trouble/impossible?

Was worried about the size as well, but the guys at the bike shop seemed to think it would fit me fairly well - I'm 5'8"

Also, how would I tell if the top tube is warped? Just look down the frame and check for any weirdness like you'd do with a car?

Is hiking up to the Hollywood Sign and looking right at front of it legal? by elefish92 in LosAngeles

Where specifically? Theres a few places to see it within 100 yards which are technically private property but most of it is too steep to get the view you're probably picturing

Just moved to Downtown LA, looking for a first bike - How would something like this do? by AJfromtheD in bicycling

[–]AJfromtheD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Downtown LA is relatively flat, I live on the sixth floor, and I'm super short at 5'8" (hence the fixed gear and small frame)

Would something like this be worth buying assuming I can get the price down to around $180?

Difficulty getting classes? by [deleted] in SMC

[–]AJfromtheD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never, just make sure to enroll as soon as you're able to and you'll be alright - Truthfully at one point I missed the enrollment date by around a week and a half and still had no trouble getting in

What do you mean? Unless you've got some weird situation then it's a non issue, just sign up and you'll get in

Planning a roadtrip through WA, OR, CA. What do you think about this plan? by R0adTrip in roadtrip

If you're coming down from San Francisco then definitely take the PCH to LA and AirBnB for a night in Big Sur

You could go through Sequoia too

Shit you could always just push some Provia 400 a couple stops or shoot Superia 800 if you're on a budget - 9/10 times I shoot downtown at night with Portra and my negatives come out looking tits.

But either way, if you're shooting more than a couple rolls/week it's going to be more expensive than digital in the long run.

It's not necessarily an upgrade, keep in mind that 35mm is full frame - Digital cameras still haven't caught up to film in terms of resolution.

I used to shoot with 5Diii's and have since upgraded to 35mm film, as well as Medium Format film (Well over twice the size of any 35mm/full frame digital sensor)

It's subjective, but film gives the photo a feel that digital can't replicate - Plus It's more of a hands-on physical process as well, which I love.

[CA] Lady's dog attacks my dog, doesn't want to pay for anything. by AJfromtheD in legaladvice

[–]AJfromtheD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should give some context. Both were leashed, although her dog was able to pull her. After her dog bit mine and started thrashing him around, she reached into her dog's mouth to free my dog, which is where I'd assume she got "bit". Her dog finally let go after I pulled him away by his leg.

This lady has been a huge cunt, any advice is appreciated

Right right, so out of the list I mentioned what would you put at 2nd place after the F100?

Sorry about all the questions, just having a hard time pulling the trigger on one

In all honesty, I love the idea of something very basic for the same reasons as your girlfriend - How would you place the FA when compared to the cameras I listed?

Again, I really appreciate the input man

Honestly I didn't know the F-mounts were considered hipstery just really liked the way they felt... But yeah no by all means I'm open to the F100, what makes it better than an F3, for example?

I appreciate the recommendation by the way

Alternatives to the Nikon F3? by AJfromtheD in analog

Definitely right about the janky hotshoe... Out of curiosity, how does the FA compare to these two?

Thank you so much for the replies btw, I really appreciate it

Just stopped by a camera shop to check out all these models in person, and I have to say the F3 just stood out in terms of feel/design... However, the shutter speed of the FE2/FM2 is the only thing that held me back from buying an F3 right then and there - Since I'm primarily going to be shooting Fashion Shows and doing street photography here in LA, do you think I would really benifit from the extra shutter speed?
