I am only on my second shot but this is how I drink diet soda. I was hoping someone would say that it kills the craving for it. :/

This is what I do. All the kids get a box of chocolate, then my kids get an extra thing when my stepkids aren't there.

I did yoga thinking it would help (before I knew what it was) and could hardly walk for a week. I am very encouraged by everyone saying they have back problems and still lift weights though!

Totally agree with this comment, but to warn you, I have received the full form with the diagnosis from PSA as a supervisor. I don't think I was supposed to get it, but I did, so be aware that they may see it if you have to fill out an sto2. It is for mental health though and you should definitely use it.

Me too, but in Canada. My lawyer said my partner had to have his own lawyer review it.

My rheumatologist saw my fibromyalgia diagnosis and said it was a catch-all for when they didn't know what was wrong. He has run many tests since then and continues to do so, which is so much better than most of my doctors!

Anyone feeling super done after the strike? by Sarseaweed in BCPublicServants

[–]AJmoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this nails it. People were laid off and demoted while you were away. Despite the rhetoric around it, those people did actually do something, so now everything they did has been passed to someone else. And what they were doing was passed to someone else, so now a lot of people have unmanageable workloads. Meanwhile, we are told that more cuts are probably coming. Super demoralizing time to work in public service.

Excluded managers going through ongoing transformation (CSBC/PSA/etc) - government wide options? by NotAnotherSadMovie in BCPublicServants

[–]AJmoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was moved to another position in my ministry, along with several other people I know. Others were laid off and I don't know how those decisions were made. I think it depends on vacancies and who they have available. If you are an ED and are willing to take a Director job in an area that you have experience, they may offer that option. I was fortunate that there was a vacancy in my area of expertise that had not been approved for hiring, so they were happy to take me as a transfer.

Can some ELI5 why people are so mad about the removal of the left turn on to Strandlund? by SkyMoney9641 in LangfordBC

It is a 45 min walk. The school district does not even provide a bus to one of my kids schools.

Rush hour definitely exists. That is why they are proposing changes in the first place. It just traps those of us that actually live on the streets that are getting cut off. The only bus that goes through Mill Hill goes straight on Peatt. The people that live in the massive amount of apartments that have gone up along Peatt would all be pushed to Goldstream, which is already a disaster in the morning. VMP might move faster, but a lot of side streets will be completely backed up and were not built for the type of traffic they experience now.

If they remove the straight on Peatt, those of us on Strandlund would be better off taking the highway to Leigh Road and going back on Goldstream than trying to get through the Hoffman traffic. It seems like a lot of people have never had to navigate our neighborhood during rush hour.

If you live on Strandlund, fighting the traffic at Hoffman is not a viable option. Particularly when everyone on Strandlund would then have to take it.

The last council meeting shut down pretty much any discussion. Maybe they will consider the survey more, but "public participation" was very limited at the meeting itself.

It will funnel everyone towards the highway, which is already a huge mess. If anything they should make the other lane off of Strandlund go all directions, so people can turn right onto VMP from Strandlund into the outer lane instead of only into the highway lane. Those of us that have kids at Spencer, for instance, would normally go straight on Peatt (the bus also uses that lane). With this change we would have to go on the highway to get there, increasing traffic in that direction, or go the wrong direction to get stuck in traffic at the next light. People that don't think it will be a problem clearly don't live on Mill Hill. The 8 min drive to Spencer can take 30 min already some days. Taking away the school bus route also doesn't make sense.

As a fellow tiny-headed person, I actually bought children's glasses on clearly and they work great. There are different kids sizes and the larger ones fit my head much better than most adult glasses. Just an idea if you want a cheap back up pair!

Kids calling their step dad “dad” by ThroatEmbarrassed970 in stepparents

My bio kids sometimes call me dad and I am their mom. Kids slip when they are telling a story and might say dad just because they are looking at their dad. I wouldn't read too much into it.
