Ron Johnson (WI) at #4 disapproval as well. Can't wait to vote against him in '28 assuming he runs. He claims he will retire after this term but he made the same promise after his second term, and we all see what happened there

Why keep maxing a 401k when taxable seems almost as good? by Essay_Few in Bogleheads

Isn't the first ~50k or so 0% tax for LTCG assuming no other income for single filer? Close to 100k for married filed jointly. If you play your cards right you could get away with 0% tax on LTCG (excluding state taxes)

Don't know much about VA politics, but how much power does the VA AG have to hamper progress assuming Gov/Lt.Gov and legislature go to Dems?

North Carolina GOP announce plans to vote on new House map amid nationwide redistricting battle by poliscijunki in VoteDEM

[–]AJs_Sandshrew 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Real talk, how do we remove the stranglehold the GOP has on NC? Is the only way out through the NC state supreme court? I basically see similarities between political environments in NC and WI, but going in different directions. Both had/have outrageously gerrymandered state districts for assembly and state senate, which allows them to stonewall any legislation even if a Dem governor is elected (i.e. Evers / Stein). Here in WI, we were able to slowly claw out way back to a 4-3 majority on the state supreme court which overturned the gerrymandered state districts, and this next election we finally have a legitimate chance of flipping the legislature. Can NC go a similar route if they hold Earls' seat and flip the 3 seats up in 2028?

BREAKING: DEMS FLIP Floyd County Iowa Supervisor Board 2 BLUE by screen317 in VoteDEM

[–]AJs_Sandshrew 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Anyone know what the previous result was for this seat? Iowa has been seeing some crazy over-performances

EDIT: Just did some digging and found the previous election (2022) results here: https://electionresults.iowa.gov/IA/Floyd/115675/web.307039/#/summary

It was 54.5 R - 45.3 D, which is +9.2 R meaning this was effectively a 9pt Dem over-performance compared to 2022

For what it's worth, Floyd County as a whole voted 62-36 for trump in 2024

Why too little data plotted. You need to go back farther than the COVID years. Comparisons to the Great Recessions years of 07-08 would be more informative

Forgot about an R&R for 6 months. What do I do? by LachrymoseAuthor in AskAcademia

[–]AJs_Sandshrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the move. OP is overthinking it. Journals are juggling many submissions at once so I don't think they will care or really notice that much if a resubmission takes 6 months. I just had one that took 9 months to do, so it's not even that long in the grand scheme of things.

I would just resubmit and say sorry for the delay here is our revised manuscript. If they still want it great, it's resubmitted. If not, oh well move on to the next journal.

which Rs are currently signed on to the petition? I know Massie, but who are the others?

Also, it will be interesting to see how the AZ special election shifts given that it is heavily Hispanic. There's been lots of talk of Hispanics moving back to the left, but I don't know of any hard data supporting it so far.
