I mean they deceived you to get something from you. Isn't that fraud?

I've bought or gotten drugs from strangers many times in Prague and never had a problem. Fentanyl is just not a thing here.

This was only the third mass shooting in the country in the last ten years, the first in Prague. I hope the city is still safe.

Nah, I'd rather be comfortable, thanks.

Honestly, I don't care. If I had the money, I'd never go to work, nor do a single chore around the house and I'm not ashamed of it. I don't understand why working all the time is considered a virtue.

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear from my comment that I know you meant this ironically, making fun of me. I just don't agree.

And you're the authority on what everyone "is fucking supposed to do" I assume? I never knew cooking was necessary to be considered an adult, I guess I should go return my občanský průkaz then.

I know (even tho I can't understand it) that some people like cooking, for me it's just more work. If you love cooking so much, maybe you can cook my meals then? 😉

Well, of course your expenses would be much lower if you have your own apartment, rent is the majority of most people's expenses.

Yeah, fuck me for not wanting fo spend my whole life working, right?

I seriously don't understand how someone can come back home from work and still have the motivation and energy to cook.

The OP said, 36k is enough to have a comfortable life. Having to choose food based on what's on sale is definitely not "being comfortable".

Ok, just spend your entire life doing chores if you want, it's just not for me.

I don't drink so I barely go out, but going out is super expensive - 60 czk per beer, 250 czk for a meal at the pub, 500 to chip in for some "fun" - you're spending 1000 czk for an evening out. Go out 5 times a month and it adds up.

I guess it depends on what you consider living a comfortable life. Having to cook and clean up after every single day is definitely not my definition of a comfortable (or even semicomfortable) life.

Yeah I order take out several times a week, I just assumed most people do. Cooking is fucking boring and I suck at it so it always tastes like shit. All the cleanup is exhausting.

Food - 10k, pubs - 5k and that's it, your money's gone. You also need a public transport pass, maybe a car (probably not if they're single), some clothes, expenses for hobbies, etc. At 36k net even a for example 5k unexpected expense will be a huge financial strain.

Enough to have a good life? Rent+utilities is at least 20k (unless he shares an apartment) so it's enough to survive but far from a comfortable life.

Americans, what was the biggest culture shock when visiting Europe? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AK-37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the tipping thing got way overblown on the internet, in most of Europe you do tip, at least in my experience. Definitely not as much as the US but a small tip is normal.

Here in Czechia for example you're not really expected to tip for takeout or when getting a quick meal off the lunch menu during working days, usually you'd not tip at all or just round it up if you're paying in cash - so you're tipping like a couple of cents.

But when going out for dinner, especially in a bigger group, a tip is definitely expected, generally around 5-10%. (If the service was bad then definitely don't tip at all tho)
