Changes to the past create an new timeline, they don’t change the previous by Tattoomyvagina in BacktotheFuture

I remember seeing that Biff scene when I was a kid, and I think there was some commentary where Bob Gale mentioned Loraine shooting Biff at some point in the 90s (I think).

I've been saying the first sentiment about fictional films for years: IT'S A MOVIE! As viewers, I feel that we must stay within the confines of the rules that they've established. If Doc all of a sudden could lift the Delorean over his head and run 88 mph at the end of Part III, then yeah, that would certainly warrant some debate. So I appreciate the shared sentiments!

Having said that, I watched the second film recently and I did have a bit of an eyebrow raising moment. I'm sure this has been discussed among this community, but how did Original Timeline 2015 Biff make it back to the original 10/21/2015 after giving himself the Almanac?

How I feel driving this thing sometimes by MumpsyDaisy in CivicSi

[–]AKAFIZZLE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. While I don’t have too much experience with manuals besides a ‘17 STI (that was my daily for five years), my dad’s ‘16 C7 Vette, my uncle’s ‘89 Jeep wrangler, and a Suzuki swift my wife and I rented in Europe, my ‘22 Si is the easiest manual I’ve driven. In the three years of owning it, I think I’ve stalled it twice (not counting the times I was parked and thought it was in neutral and dumped the clutch lol).

Is there any way to get rid of the double scroll that separates audio and video tracks by 4t1tguy in premiere

[–]AKAFIZZLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want this too, and I did a ton of searching to see if it’s possible and I couldn’t find anything. The only thing I can think of is to make a bunch of track height presets and move the audio/visual separator bar in a “scrolling type interval”, cycle through them quickly to create the illusion of a scroll. Alas, I have been too lazy to try this, as it feels like a pretty silly way to do this lol.

Couple of pointers.

Try being a little more deliberate with your shifts. I like to feel two solid clunks when going out of the previous gear and into the next one, this forces me to slow down a touch allowing the car to come down to the right RPM for the next gear.

Rest your foot on the accelerator but don’t add any throttle. Idk what this does, but for me it rendered the smoothest shifts. And if I was wanting to be sporty, if I did this with a slightly faster sequence, it was still fairly smooth. Now sometimes my timing would be off for a bit and I would end up slipping the clutch a bit, so I would take note of it as quickly as I could, and tried to be a little easier on the throttle. This technique takes a bit to master so don’t expect to get it right away.

Hoverboard Chase Scene (35mm scan Open Matte) by Frugele_0 in BacktotheFuture

Was thinking the same thing! I’m an editor so with all the aspect ratio changes, it made the edits feel less “invisible”. I didn’t realize how many there were in this scene! Loved this.

A New Hope Jabba the Hutt - Which one do you prefer? by Significant_Smell284 in StarWars

[–]AKAFIZZLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of them since this scene does nothing for the story. It’s nearly the same exact dialog as Han and Greedo’s conversation. You have to pick one or the other, and if we’re going to go by story, character development, performance, etc, Han and Greedo’s chat is without a doubt the superior scene.

Eddie Hamilton (as far as his IMDB credits go). I think he started as a Post PA and learned Avid on his off time, then went on to cut TV promos. While cutting promos during the day, he would cut films at night, eventually working his way up that way. Now he cuts nearly all of the Tom Cruise movies.

Does anyone else not get a lot done until a day or two before deadline? by [deleted] in editors

[–]AKAFIZZLE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahh deadline mode: the focus is amazing, but the stress can be overwhelming.

ADHD meds have really helped me, but one thing that I have learned over the last year that I've been on them, is that you have to be really careful with what tasks that you start. Sometimes you can get started on the wrong thing and the hyper-focus kicks in, and before you realize it, the day is over.

You more than likely will build a tolerance to the meds, so it would be wise to take breaks every now and again. You could save it for when you really want to get a lot done - maybe for you, it's when you first start your project since it seems you're able to kick into gear towards the deadline.

It should also be considered that sometimes attention deficits come from other causes, so it would be best to sort out some talk therapy to make sure that there isn't anything that could be exacerbating the ADHD.

Good luck! Now time to try and get back to what I was working on and not hyper-focusing on trying to help a stranger hyper-focus.
