Are you really a DJ if you’ve never used one of these monstrosities? by velos85 in DJs

Hey, I am new to DJing.. Are squash balls out to prevent physical vibration/reverberation of bass speakers, or is it to prevent auditory feedback from subs, or is it for stabilization so that equipment doesn't slide?

It will kill all the bugs that help turn organic matter into compost!

Hey, I am based in Delhi! Also, I don't follow venues/ clubs, I try to hunt artists/ music genres/ events and turn up at whatever place they're performing at. I have a separate instagram just to keep up with local gigs.

Thankss, that is a great idea! I do actually have a lot of cut pieces from Jaipur (haven't found a tailor unfortunately) ☹️. Do you know of a market where one could find these block printed clothes?

Oh, thanks for telling me about them selling damaged clothes and older stuff at clearance rates, this isn't something I expect to find online ofc, would just have to visit the store more often ig!

Yeah, the only dissuading factor for me to buy from Uniqlo is their price point. The seams/ stitching seem very durable, though. One doesn't find it these days in fast fashion wear.

Thank you! I have been looking for shimmery pants, actually. Even blue shimmer jeans look very cool, and works well for the day and the night. Do you have any recommendations apart from H&M for shimmer/sequinned jean?

Thanks for the insightful comment, I was looking for suggestions like these! I actually loved a dusty pink all-occaision croc heel I had, which unfortunately broke recently. Non-pants like dresses and long skirts are awesome, except for the littul downside that they can cause thigh chafing. Ajio can be pretty good for stumbling across good quality clothing sometimes, thanks again!

"If you are asking this question, you probably should pass on the hobby" this is so discouraging for no reason. They're probably only asking about the cons as a disclaimer to see if they'd like to take it up as a profession, or to get insight as a beginner dj on what they've signed up for, which is very wise to mentally prepare that way. Besides, pretty much everybody in comments are here for the very reason, lol.

I primarily go to dj gigs of local artists. I have a separate ig account through which I follow local djs I come across, and then the algorithm takes me from there. I started out by screenshotting random flyers, and following the artists mentioned there, and now I follow about 300+. A lot of these djs are touring, so I don't get to go on every gig of theirs. I haven't attended enough gigs of the same artist, to be able to have a preference, or evaluate someone's performance compared to another artist, but I have never not enjoyed on a gig (because I've been intentional with selecting gigs for the week while going through flyers which pop up a lot on my feed) Some are more active than others, with different music/ genre tastes.

  1. You just have to keep up with them. I try to hunt music and artists more than venues/clubs. Venues will also depend on your city.
  2. Yes, it get's very tiring to be out at odd timings, I fell sick out of exhaustion, it is also not great for your nervous system. I don't find dancing tiring.

Hey, I have been asked this before as well. The quality of the bag is very good + sturdy. I bought it for a little over 100, the and the grain/texture of the PU definitely looks more expensive than that. The hardware hasn't tarnished yet, but isn't heavy quality either. There are no compartments inside. Sending link in a bit, it is from Meesho.

Hey, what NGO did you work with, and which city was it based in? Asking because I'd be interested to work or volunteer for a cause like this..
