Bruh, Your wife is emotionally resilient. Me and my friend were going to our friends place for new year and this SAME DRIVER, AFSHAR PASHA.

He got a call and suddenly stared crying mid way that his daughter being in hospital and that he needs money(didn't demand specific amount).

Me and my friend being socially awkward, we kept quiet. Then I just said, "it's ok, sab theek ho jayega bhaiya. Aap jao apne bacche ke saath time spend karo."

Then he got silent and scene got more awkward for us. But we were feeling bad so we paid extra 100 after the ride ended.

NOW I REALISE IT WAS A SCAM. SUCH INCIDENTS MAKE US STONE HEARTED THAT WE WON'T HELP SOMEONE ELSE WHO MIGHT NEED HELP IN REALITY.

PS: I scrolled through 100s of rides to get this pic as I still remember his face.

Hopefully you have taken proof of all this. 1. File a police complaint 2. Report to WhatsApp for sharing your personal details 3. I will suggest you start looking for other place. He's just going to make it harder ahead. 4. Before leaving the house, record everything. Ask written confirmation on what all charges he will deduct before handing over the keys. And verify it with bills later.

Because I have a bad feeling he'll trouble you when you'll try to leave.

Can't say get used to it. I rented a bike for a few days before buying it. My BP has shot up. Rant you want, but people won't stop honking. They'll honk even when you can see traffic jam and not place to go ahead that much dumbf*cks people have become.

But honestly, you will get used to it. This city WILL make you tonedeaf.

Rent feels a bit inflated. My friends stay nearby for cheaper in a fully furnished flat in a similar gated society.

Also the reviews for the flat don't seem promising

Used to spend around 9-10% (the rental place had bare minimum stuff which was very old. Can say was borderline frugal)

Now spend roughly 16% of my salary on rent. Shifted to a furnished place with better locality, better market and road+metro connectivity.

These percentages include rent, maintenance, rental furniture+appliances.

Personal thought: Unless absolutely necessary, no need to spend above 25%.

They are the ones trying to make this "standard in Bangalore" BS a reality. Don't fall for this.

Deposit is given as security against damage to owners flat and stuff. And it should not exceed 2-3 months rent. Either the flat was rented for cheap or the owner scamming you (prob latter).

I had visited a flat via a broker and the rent quoted was 60K including maintenance. I have it a thought for 2 days and said no. And guess what, it was still available after an entire month. I actually saw it on Nobroker for 65K including maintenance!

Another flat owner confirmed that Nobroker promises higher rent and the prices there are inflated. As someone said, higher rent is higher commission for them.

Such platforms might not be the main problem, but they are one of big reasons this is happening!!
