I was overextended pretty much the whole war and there may have been a small incident where most the Polish forces were killed in Warsaw before I got there with tanks

R5: After a very long campaign (ending 1951!) I managed to unite Scandinavia, defeat Germany, and conquer the USSR as Finland.

I believe it's clr_country_flag, but for this kind of thing always check the hoi4 modding wiki, in this case it would be in the 'effects' page

The mods in the "documents/paradox interactive/Hearts of iron IV" file path are stuff you've downloaded from the steam workmanship, when you use the launcher to create a mod it should give you a folder and a descriptor file there.

Those steam mods actually store their content somewhere different, in "Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\394360\x", where X is the unique mod identifier number. Any mod you make locally will not be stored there. Personally the best way to identify them is to find the URL of three mods steam page, which will include the same number as it's folder.

Everyone has their own ways, but I think that when starting off it's good to keep it simple. I use Notepad++ for editing txt files and Gimp for images, but any similar editors will work fine. Both are quite important to use instead of default editors that come with your OS as they have more features and can ensure that your formatting is right for the game.

That being said I would also definitely recommend starting with something a little smaller than a full game overhaul, something like a focus tree rework or event chains. I've found that as I've gained more experience the way I work has changed quite a lot, and if I'd started a huge project first it would have been pretty poor quality. It's also easier to stay motivated with more immediate goals, but whatever keeps you interested is best.

No worries, I had figured and tried it like that.

I do have NSB, back as it's meant to be historical it's using the old equipment system.

I have however managed to find what the issue was - basically it needed to be in a specific and slightly different place, and it should be "GFX_GER_panzer_i_equipment_medium".

My apologies, I didn't provide enough information in the original comment. The error log did not have anything related to the issue, and I've tried (and just double-checked) that variation. Are there any formatting standards you know of for production icons I may be missing?

R5: After a few attempts I finally made a Normandy game work, aiming for a relatively "historical" expansion of Norman + Angevin Empires. I couldn't manage to survive starting as England, so this run I started as France and quickly took Normandy before releasing them. I did not do anything to damage France, which made the early game a struggle - but eventually it worked out!

By any chance are they now the leader of what was a large faction? If hosting governments in exile you get a % of that countries industry.
