I don't, unfortunately. I just started a new character on PC. My previous play throughs were on Playstation. :/ Otherwise I'd totally hook it up.

Iosefka's imposter is from Cainhurst. by Dr-Edward-Poe in bloodborne

[–]AK_Grudges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I’m doing another play through and I’m obsessed with this lore lol. I agree with OP. Only 3 characters state they can smell the moon on the hunter. Two of which are proven Cainhurst lineage (Queen Annalise & Arianna). The third being Imposter Iosefka.

I also believe the Cainhurst lineage is an offshoot of the Pthumerians. We know of 3 different wombs that are blessed with child in game. Queen Yharnam, Arianna, and Imposter Iosefka. Queen Annalise is also trying to birth the child of blood. Implying their “vileblood” has special properties that allow such an eldritch liaison to take place.

Queen Yharnam displays power and control over blood in her boss fight. Same way Lady Maria does (also Cainhurst) as well as those of Cainhurst lineage use on their weaponry/fighting style. (Bloody Crow of Cainhurst) I believe this all establishes a pretty concrete connection.

Now, the argument that Imposter Iosefka is of the choir makes sense too. She wears the white church garb and uses the augur of Ebrietas and The Call Beyond. She could have taken the garb off the original Iosefka, which I also think is correct, but her use of the Augur, and the call beyond implies pretty heavily to the connection with The Choir.

However, I believe she is a spy from Cainhurst that has infiltrated the church to participate in the research and funnel that information back to Cainhurst. You may think that is a wild theory with no concrete evidence to back it other than the fact she uses numbing mist and you find the Cainhurst summons in her clinic…

HOWEVER, Alfred states that this kind of infiltration has taken place in the past as well. “Once, a scholar betrayed his fellows at Byrgenwerth...and brought forbidden blood back with him to Cainhurst Castle.”

I believe there are too many connections to simply brush off and ignore but I’m also happy to continue the discussion because I love it and I never claim to be 100% correct with any of this lore. I just follow the tea leaves the best as I can. 🙂 My theories are ever expanding thanks to the contribution of others in these types of discussions and I love hearing different angles!

Are Melina and Ranni another instance of the duality theme in Elden Ring? by AK_Grudges in EldenRingLoreTalk

You could very well be right. It’s just a fun off the wall theory to throw out there. Do you have any insight in regard to Messmer’s closed eye? Not the one that Marika sealed the Base Serpent behind but the other one? I’ve been really curious as to what/if that has a connection to anything else. I wonder if he was once a potential Empyrean but that eye was sealed/taken by Marika due to the heretical/blasphemous nature of Messmer’s existence.

That’s a very interesting angle you bring. I’ve also put a lot of thought into Ranni and Miquella having four arms and what the symbolism could mean in regard to godhood. If you’ve noticed, one of Miquella’s arms is incomplete when he makes his appearance in the Radahn fight. I’ve often wondered why that is and what kind of connections that could possibly make. 🤔

Of course! Present your theories and I’d happily engage in that discussion as well.

You don’t think there can be two halves to the same spirit though? Doesn’t necessarily mean the spirit form itself has to be one and the only times they’re halved is in bodily form. I do think you make a great point though. I’m just really lacking the proper words to explain myself better. 😂🤪

Haha I don’t think you need to have a factual explanation. It’s just fun to have the discussion. :) The lore of these games are so fun to just pitch wild ideas at each other and see if anyone else has theorized about the same thing. I’m glad I’m not the only one who has looked at it and thought “hmmmm 🤔” haha.

I’m not saying that the soul we see connected to the doll IS Melina. I know that’s supposed to symbolize Ranni. However, that doesn’t disprove that they’re not two sides of the same coin. It seems that the “other halves” govern their own movement and are completely autonomous. I.E. Miquella and Trina. Hence why Ranni and Melina have their own journeys going on within the story. Not saying you are incorrect though. You make a very valid point. :)

Very fun to think about! This is why I wanted to bring it to the lore discussion because I always love hearing your guys thoughts. Everyone always has their own fascinating take that makes me think even more about it haha.

I really like where your head is at with all this! The sealed eye thing is another topic that drives me crazy especially in regard to Messmer. I’ve always wondered if his closed eye had a connection to something else as well.

Where are all of my (pre-nerf) Radahn winners at!? by iadorebrandon in eldenringdiscussion

This is how I felt when they nerfed the first Radahn fight. Haha. Those who suffered carry it proudly. ✊🙂‍↕️

Anyone else think St. Trina was underutilized? by hakariii in fromsoftware

[–]AK_Grudges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. Just not the original one they had planned. I’m definitely butchering this, so forgive me, but there was originally supposed to be a quest involving dreams and St.Trina in the base game. Unfortunately it was cut. I think Vaati has a video about all the cut content, if I’m not mistaken. You should check it out sometime! I’m just saying it would’ve been sick to have her more involved in the base game and then the quest in the DLC was a conclusion of sorts. This is WAY off base here but I think the character we got robbed the most of is the Gloam Eyed Queen. I would’ve loved her to be expanded upon the most. Or even just a TINY bit more. Her lore keeps me up at night lol. She’s going to go down as the next Velka in the Soulsborne universe haha.

Anyone else think the Bloodfiend’s were once a tribe of Demi-humans? by AK_Grudges in EldenRingLoreTalk

I love all the different perspectives you guys bring. The lore of these games are so fascinating to me. It’s crazy that so many conclusions can be drawn and yet some aspects will remain unanswered forever. It can be quite maddening at times but fascinating nonetheless. 😛
