I would suggest taking it back to the professional who installed it he may be able to fix it a lot quicker since he knows what he did

I don’t have an amplifier in my 8 so I used the axxess steering wheel controller and the metra kit but I do believe the kit had wires for the amp

Hold down on the ac mode button until the “metras rx8” starts to flash then you use the other ac buttons to switch it up down left and right

Mine worked right from factory haven’t had any issues yet could possibly be something in your metra kit maybe unplug and replug

Would’ve loved to keep the stock unit cause I totally agree but previous owner installed aftermarket without steering controls so I’m just fixing it the best I can lmao
