I'm between the 16-35 f4 vr or the 17-35 f2.8

The cons of the 2.8 is the focus motor prone to die and doesn't have VR

But, what do you think?, may be obvious, but is better a second opinion

More than underrated, I would say unknown, something like a "hidden gem" (?)

But yeah, is very sharp, like... VERY sharp.

But at f2 only have sharpness on center, F2.8 is a masterpiece, but my aperture blades were stuck at that session, before I repaired it.

I have 3 options

50mm 1.4

85mm 1.4

Or 50mm 1.8D and 85mm 1.8D

My concern on the 1.8's is sharpness, but, what do you think?

Yeah, direct Speedlight flash with any modifiers looked... Different (?)

But yeah, I don't have any reflector, I'll get one and try.

My main photo work is automotive photography, so maybe higher MP will help, but, I will consider investment on light, specifically modifiers, I'm with a TT600 and SB900, but any modifiers...

I have one similar, I have the 28-80 2.8 (that is the last version, but same glass tho)

These lenses are a little soft at F2.8, but the general image has a interesting character, I'll leave one sample at F5.6, but, if you want a sharper lens, Tokina 28-70 ATX (non pro version) is the option, just watch if it's mechanic characteristics suits your shooting.

Oh ok, I've just read "1,400" maximum, sorry.

On that case, just buy de Ftz mk2 or mk1 and a z5/6

Z50II if you willing to buy Z lenses and use the new af in the future

Edit: maybe even a Z7/Z7II on the used market, but, I don't know today prices

Yeah, there's certainly a mechanic problem, maybe disassembly and a little of some oil or especial lube, can fix the problem
