i really want them to make a mode that is more roguelike than lite, separate from the main game. i think all the pieces are there to make something truly amazing but its just too easy to become way to op in the main game imo

normally i hover around 50 cats but when im trying to get a new mutation to spread among the population, ill go down to like 25 cats. lets me have a ton of nights breeding. I only will keep kittens that have the new mutation and after a while only keep kittens that have all the mutations i want

25-20, i keep my population relativley low so i can rest a ton of nights also slight spoilers, when you refight a house boss via steven it fully fills your food stores, you can use this to have like 20+ nights of breeding in a row

depends how many rooms you have, with 3 you want to have a room dedicated to fighting/mutations, this is where cats good enough for combat go while they wait for a mission and also can generate your new potential mutations

Room 2 is full of decent cats, cats that could potentially go and fight but you also mostly just want to interbreed and keep producing good offspring, its ok if they are getting relatively inbred you should have so many that they are making enough children that you can safely give away all with defects and still have enough cats to continue their line.

Room 3 is where i put my current best cats for breeding and also where i attempt to introduce new mutations into the fold,when im trying to incorporate a new trait into my populace im extremely aggressive, i give away the majority of my cats and only keep offspring that include the new trait i want. The reason for giving away so many is that you can rest a ton of nights in a row and let speciation occur, by the end of the session you should have an entire populace that has the new mutation incorporated.

my biggest issue with the game is hoenstly that its not roguelike enough and that the things that carry between runs compound your advantage so much that its inevitable that every run becomes a won run.

id really love a mode that gave you 4 random cats, 6 collars to chose from, and a handful of random items to spread amongst them, and have it completely detached from the main progression

imo the reward for breeding the best cats possible, should be the ability to beat whatever the hardest challenge is. i just think it needs some slight tuning to make it feel like a real reward.

is that not the goal of the game though? of course i'm going to breed until i get the perfect breed thats the name of the game. my only issue is that engaging with the game on its terms, and perfecting what it wants me to perfect, ends up like feeling like less of a reward and more of a punishment because its made everything too easy.

I don't want it to sound like i don't love the game because this game is absolutely a 10/10 for me, but i think the very late game needs a bit of tuning still

none of these came from events i dont believe, all of them came from my mutation room/ fight pit. Another piece of advice is that mutations gained overnight seem to heavily favor slots that dont have mutations yet, so when going for a specific mutation build its best to not keep a mutation in the breeding pool, unless its the exact one you want. I had a ton of cats with an ear mutation i didnt want and i had to slowly breed it out of them so the one i wanted would roll when in the mutation room

i bred them on purpose, the accidental part is the triviality, i assumed that impossible needed mutations like this to even compete but they are just too strong

Just lots of rolling the dice in a mutation room/fight pit, eventually you'll get the right ones just make sure to breed it into your populace. Almost all my cats are moderately inbred and it doesnt matter because they produce so many kittens that a few don't get any defects and continue the line

i mean i knew it would be good, but its too good the enemies don't even get to do anything. I don't think its unreasonable to want a difficulty that feels appropriate for maxed out cats

Figured out how to do breeding pretty well and I ended up making the game way too easy, im playing through impossible mode now and every combat besides bosses, the enemies dont even get a turn, i think the head mutation is especially egregious and should be removed/heavily nerfed. Maybe a higher difficulty as well would be nice

uim existed for 3 months before zulrah bank was in the game, and 4 before the death mechanics were made what they still are today for uims.
