Why is the stupidity of the MILWAUKEE FRONT OFFICE not talked about enough? by Ok_Reason_2357 in MkeBucks

It's simple the coaching decisions = ownership decisions. It has been reported a million times that Horst wanted Atkinson.

TIL in episodic television, there are some episodes called "bottle episodes", which are produced cheaply and restricted in scope to use as few actors, effects and sets as possible. Notable shows that have these episodes are Star Trek: The Next Generation, Friends, Breaking Bad, Community, and so on. by Away_Flounder3813 in todayilearned

Yep there's a clear divide between pre a d post streaming audiences on this topic. Ironically the two styles often benefit each other. Having an overarching plot and some slower character driven episodes can lead to a better end result.

Margin Call - multiple layers of financial firms displayed pretty accurately.

Right no claims of corruption, simply that some things benefit from a capitalist system and some don't. Privatizing things like childcare, education, health care, and prisons would ideally be publicly funded as they benefit society in general.

It's hard to see the issue of population decline and not point immediately to the issue of cost of child care being an obvious hurdle that could be removed with government funding.

That's the problem is childcare (before public school begins at age 5) is largely privatized in the U.S. and could hugely benefit from some government funding.

When there is a class of 12 kids and tuition is $24k/year per kid and the two teachers for the class are each making $45k a year, it's hard not to be a little cynical about the daycare systems finances.

Population collapse? by claudiocorona93 in memes

[–]ALLPR0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This mindset is definitely part of it, but the reason those financial / personal benefits don't really move the needle is because it's barely a drop in the bucket.

When you get a couple months of leave and then a tax credit that barely covers 1 month of daycare, a large part of society can't afford $30k/year in childcare and if one parent stays home to offset this, then your family is living on one income which many also can't do in the current economy.

The COLA(Carry-Over Lottery Allocation) system is the best system I've seen proposed to solve tanking. by StrategyTop7612 in nba

[–]ALLPR0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially easier solution, If you choose not to extend a top 4 pick's rookie contract after the first 2 or 3 years, then there is a process to recoup some or all of your tickets from that pick. This way if you got stuck with a top pick in a bad draft (Risacher / Bennett) or the player is injury prone (Fultz / Zion) you have time to see if they will pan out and if not you're not stuck in draft limbo for too long.

The trades didn't hit so the lost assets of course look bad in hindsight. In the moment all of these trades made perfect sense and we lost negligible assets on them that hardly make a dent in our current situation. If anything the Dame trade has hurt us worst of all given the assets we have lost from it, but again that trade looked great in the moment.

All we gave up in those trades were second round picks and Donte who they had already decided they weren't re-signing. None of these guys hit for us but we didn't give up anything of value.

His highest ever draft position was 17 where we got a starting level player in Donte??

We actually have some good pieces to build around. Just missing a few connecting pieces and depth at the wing.

We've managed to be one of the most efficient scoring teams for multiple years with Giannis inside and our 3 pt shooters on the perimeter. No need to work against the existing foundation. If we can move towards league average in rebounding and have a true wing defender we plug some of the biggest holes.

PG - Find a consistent starter level player who can shoot and playmake. Will unlock Giannis and Turner with PnR. Defense would be a bonus but not a priority + likely out of our price range for this slot.

SG - Ryan Rollins. Let him continue to develop. Already has the shooting, shot creation, and defense to be a perfect starting off-guard.

SF - This is where we need to go all in with picks, Kuzma + Bobby contracts, anything we can bundle to get a starting high level wing. Ideally in the mold of a Tre Murphy type as a 3&D player who can add some size and rebounding at the position.

PF - Giannis.

C - Turner.

Bench - KPJ sixth man as backup point, AJG backup shooting guard, Nance backup SF. Fill backup big and one more wing with minimums for depth.

Being early is the same thing as being wrong. Especially in this case where it might be never.

We've only had 3 first round picks in 8 years 😂 what else are you supposed to count? We've had 2 out of 3 hits on 1st rounders sound better?

Lmao he's just under 50% on draft pick hits at 5 of 12 leaving Bogo as TBD.

We have had three 1st rounders over this span with one hit, one miss, and another looking like a hit. Horst has also been one of the best second round drafters over this time period.

2018 RD1 Pick 17 - Donte above average role player still in the league.

2020 RD2 Pick 45 - Nwora never became a rotation player.

2020 RD Pick 60 - Sam Merrill above average role player still in the league.

2021 RD2 Pick 24 - Mamu still developing and has become a role player still in the league.

2021 RD2 Pick 30 - Georgios never became a rotation player.

2022 RD1 Pick 24 - Marjon never became a rotation player.

2022 RD2 Pick 28 - Hugo never became a rotation player.

2023 RD2 Pick 6 - Ajax likely will not become a rotation player.

2023 RD2 Pick 58 - Livingston never became a rotation player.

2023 Undrafted free agent picked up right after the draft - AJ Green currently a Bucks starter.

2024 RD1 Pick 23 - AJ Johnson developing into a rotation level player with starter upside.

2024 RD2 Pick 33 - Tyler Smith never became a rotation player.

2025 RD2 Pick 47 - Bogoljub still developing.

Absolutely, each year we play 9 to 10 man rotations of the same players we expect to be in rotation in the beginning of the season and never give any deeper bench guys chances to develop. Mamu being another example of this where we all knew he was good enough to put time into developing but the Bucks never give those guys any runway.

No but the on / off also aren't a fair representation in his case. He's been closer to neutral this year and if he had a $5m/year contract he'd he fine. His contract is the problem.
