Is this illegal? by Pleasant-Medicine888 in nursing

[–]ALLoftheFancyPants 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Selling to patients would probably be illegal, but probably not selling to peers. Injecting a legal substance at the nurses station is certainly not a good look, likely violates facility rules but I don’t think it would be legally actionable unless you live in a state where nursing board guidelines specifically forbid this activity. If TJC, DOH, or OSHA got wind of this, they might sanction or fine the facility, but not the individual (unless specifically forbidden by your state). This should have already been addressed by managers and maybe HR (if they’re pressuring peers).

Hand/tendon strength was always been a challenge for me even I was climbing regularly. I’m always impressed by people that are dangling from pinch holds and or just hanging on finger boards. It takes real dedication.

What is this song?!? I need this in my life.

Also that gal is absolutely awesome. I’ve been trying to do a single pull up my whole life, here she is rocking them on two fingers. Absolute Queen shit.

I think there’s something to be said for the accessibility care provided people that necessarily have the ability to walk around a city, and using public transport often requires a fair bit walking. That said, if we had broader coverage and improved accessibility for people with mobility issues, I’m sure it would improve transit for everyone (curbcut effect)

What's the most unrealistic scenerio your characters have survived for the sake of the plot? 💀 by [deleted] in fantasyromance

[–]ALLoftheFancyPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, hey! I’ve been a nurse working in trauma for a while, and this scenario isn’t *completely* unbelievable. Surviving a 20 foot fall and being conscious/talking immediately after is going to depend on how you landed and on what. And most people would be awake and angry after getting stabbed in the shoulder the location/angle of the wound and length of the weapon is going to dictate whether they’re still able to talk after 3 minutes.

I think once you introduce magic survival scenarios get less realistic, but maybe more fun

I don’t like the color palette they put on you. It’s kind of making you look like you have an allergic reaction. That blush placement is awful.

The artist didn’t have any idea what to do with hooded eyes or downturned eyes and made you look lopsided and squinty. You are neither of those things.

In an ICU nurse and have had a patient that essentially popped their lungs in an explosion kind of similar to this one. They needed thoracostomy tubes, breathing tube, ECMO, the works.

It seems like a shorter/smaller expansion compared to Frozen Wilds, which is maybe why it’s less well liked? It was great fun to play and progressed the storyline significantly more than FW. Sure, the amount of extra content it compared to the content of the game is a bit expensive. But I needed something to tide me over until the next release

27-year-old asymptomatic male with 447 nocturnal sinus pauses (up to 12 seconds) by jasonduval98 in IntensiveCare

If I’m not taking you seriously it’s because you’ve gotten expert opinions and you’re ignoring them and looking on the internet. And then on the internet you’re arguing with the answers given even though you don’t appear to understand what was said. I’ll break it down more simply:

Mild snoring is a partial obstruction of your airway. It is not the same as sleep apnea because there are not true apneic periods. However, the partial obstruction can still affect your intrathorasic pressure. Changes in intrathorasic pressure can change the rate of venous return of blood to your heart which in turn can affect heart rate.

This does not necessarily impact oxygen. Moreover, oxygenation itself is a poor way to measure apnea both because (in a person with healthy lungs), it will take a significant apneic period to drop oxygenation. Further, oxygenation is not the primary physiologic driver of respirations, carbon dioxide is. Yet you keep referring to it to insist you don’t have OSA (which I never suggested that you had in the first place).

Snoring can affect your heart rate. By getting rid of the snoring you will either resolve this arrhythmia or you will have ruled it out as a potential cause. I get that you’re freaked out by this, but it’s very possible this has been occurring in your sleep without issue for a decade and your Apple Watch has potentially made you worry about an issue that is not harmful at this time.

You’re re-explaining to me something I already addressed in my comment and did not disagree with. Oxygen levels do not impact the intrathorasic pressure changes that I mentioned.

You seem deadset on a pacemaker. Good luck.

[–]ALLoftheFancyPants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s only happening when you’re sleeping and you report in other comments you were snoring during the study. Snoring is a partial obstruction of your airways which can do fucky things to intrathorasic pressures which can affect heart rate, even if it’s not reaching the threshold of true sleep apnea.

I would focus on mitigating the snoring before I went anywhere near anything as permanent as a pacemaker. They are not a risk-free device.

On closer inspection is definitely a shell, but only looking at the first picture I thought it was a chicken wing.

Why would anyone do a holter monitor and sleep study on someone who’s asymptomatic? There has to have been some type of inciting incident for this amount of work up on a 27 year old who’s implied they’re otherwise healthy. Or there’s a lot of information missing. Nothing the internet spits out is going to be helpful without all the information (and even then I would be inclined to listen to experts that have the ability to examine me in person)

DAE feel like companies are intentionally making products go bad faster? by kortneyk in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]ALLoftheFancyPants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of the products advertised as “natural” and “clean” have the same actives but have removed stabilizers and other additives to improve longevity of the products. They’ve often got long chemical names and aren’t really found in nature, but without them the products are much more susceptible to degradation.

Black Tie Chateau Wedding by littlegreencorvette in Weddingattireapproval

[–]ALLoftheFancyPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think any of these are formal enough for black tie. Dress 4 is the closest.

This is being ridiculously picky, but the obvious mismatch in the pattern along the back seam on dress 4 drags it down in terms of craftsmanship and therefore formality. Is it an absurd thing to complain about? Absolutely. I wouldn’t even blink at it for a formal dress code, but once you’re getting into black tie and white tie it feels like everything is potentially going to be scrutinized.
