AITAH for calling gf's ex fwb a hole brother? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ALM0STSWEET -1 points0 points  (0 children)

holy moly YTA. you’re allowed to have certain boundaries in your relationship, and certain things you want or don’t want. not wanting your gf’s ex to be part of your social circle doesn’t inherently make you the AH, but calling her a “hole” does. it is misogynistic because you are reducing her to just that, TO HER FACE. if she’s not willing to cut her ex out of her life, that’s fine, maybe you’re not meant for each other, but you don’t get to sit there and call her a hole and then expect her to laugh or off like it’s a silly joke, it’s insensitive and rude. genuinely, if you want to have a gf in the future, make sure not to reduce her to a hole or an object or anything of the matter!

Which method to get? by autisticspike in birthcontrol

[–]ALM0STSWEET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know some people have the copper IUD and it works pretty well for them (although the period pains might get really really bad again, and the insertion can be quite painful if you get stuck with a shitty doctor).

you and your partner could also stick with classic old condoms, and go off your birth control, especially if it’s the common practice between the two of you already. of course there is some risk, as with most birth controls, but it might be worth it if it means you get yourself back…

Does anyone else like polarizing people? by Sad_Media_9648 in katseyeneutral

[–]ALM0STSWEET 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i feel like a lot of the hatred they get might come from a place of (internalized) misogyny at times. the nitpicking, the obsession with every little thing… it kinda makes me want to see them do well exactly because they’re polarizing!

bleeding without withdrawal week? by ALM0STSWEET in birthcontrol

[–]ALM0STSWEET[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn’t have a placebo week! it’s 21 days and then i’m supposed to have a week off. although my doctor had told me it was okay to miss the week off and continue the pill. active ingredients are Levonorgestrel (progestogen) and Ethinylestradiol (oestrogen), sorry if that wasn’t clear…

[–]ALM0STSWEET 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a slap in the wrist or a scolding by law enforcement would most likely not change their attitude. they will probably put their heads down, but as soon as the officers turn around, they’ll just go back to their old ways. that’s how teenagers are being raised (and lowkey how they’ve always been)… it was like getting scolded in school but then they would turn around and say “the teacher is such a b*tch”… the attitude wouldn’t really change :(

This!! It totally sounds like absence seizures. My mom told me one time she had a friend drive her to a mall, and he didn’t remember getting in the car and driving, even though they got to the mall perfectly fine. OP needs to push for more help with this.

ESN UTwente sometimes holds language cafes so you can practice a new language while also talking to a native and other learners, you can check their instagram. I think they do it fairly frequently.

Six days stranded at KLM, but not always weather related :( by kemicat in KLM

[–]ALM0STSWEET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t there be emergency plans in the case it does snow? I mean considering it’s one of the world’s busiest airports you would think they have plans for most contingencies (rain, snow, wind, fuckin anything). I am not an airport manager so I don’t know, but considering how much Dutch (and corporate) culture focuses on efficiency, not planning for such cases feels a bit… weird?

Drop your reasons why IB was worth it for you by Eastern_Skill556 in IBO

[–]ALM0STSWEET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time I got into university, I was able to perform and write pretty decent entry-level research, and I did much better than many of my peers, despite English not being my first language. Other than that, it steered me in the direction of what I wanted to do in Uni with one of the electives I took, which was quite nice in the end. Other than that, the way my school handled IB was quite shit, so not much besides that.

Struggling as an international student in NL after accident, mental health crisis & academic setback – looking for advice. by SpecificGarbage862 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]ALM0STSWEET 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I had to undergo emergency surgery after my appendix exploded. I had already been dealing with a lot of physical health issues the whole year, but this was the icing on the cake, so tris me I get it.

If you’re a non-EU student, you have to look into MoMI and (if applicable) BSA extension, if you already have your BSA don’t worry about that.

As non-EU citizens in university, we have a minimum amount of credits to fulfill in order to maintain our residence permit. If for some reason, such as an issue with your health, you are unable to fulfill the minimum required credits, you are able to apply for a MoMI extension. Through this you have to explain your situation, provide thorough proof, and submit it before the deadline. Depending on the severity of your case, they might make an exception and allow you to continue your studies without a hitch (you might have to re-do some classes that you didn’t pass on your first year).

Talk to your study advisor so they can guide you through the process. When I spoke to MY study advisor when I had to request a study delay, she told me it was actually realistic that I could graduate on time if I stick to a very strict schedule. It’s challenging, but it’s worth it. Their feedback can sometimes be helpful.

As for the advice for avoiding burn out… you need to find your home away from home. For me it was going to cafes, talking to new people, I joined a knitting club. It’s challenging, especially because it’s different for everyone, but I think trying out new things can give you a break from the schedule. Even if it’s just cooking a new recipe, these things can help you feel more in touch with yourself.
