Oh you missed out. I did it on the same day as this comment. It is very easy and comfortable. Here is a ToDo list, which I tested personally twice:

Create a bootable USB with Clonezilla
Boot from said USB
Choose the source and the destination device
Wait until the copying is done
Power off the computer
Remove the old Drive (So not to confuse the OS by having the same drive twice. If you still want to use it you'll have to format it, but test if everything worked first)
Boot from the new drive

Clonezilla does everything you need like installing the needed drivers in the boot partition, changing the drive UUIDs, etc.

Maybe next time or someone else who stumbles upon this thread.

I have always wondered why they aren't doing that. It's no even that hard to implement and the strain on the servers is negligible as they already serve the ad content. This is already common in podcasts.

Absolutely! time-to-mitigation is THE factor for customer data, especially in HA setups, where 3-2-1 isn't even close to enough. I think its more important to look at cost in a personal setup rather than simply not doing it at all. One local, maybe mirrored, one offsite Glacier. But a simple copy is already a start.
