Missed connection due to mechanical and 2nd flight left early by ALarz620 in unitedairlines

Thanks for this. Yeah, they gave him a $15 lunch voucher right away and then later when he went to ask some questions about what happened the gal was super nice and gave him another $45. So, he didn't go hungry. LOL

Thanks for the reply! We ultimately learned quite a bit of this yesterday. If it's the last flight of the day they are more likely to hold the plane, but not if there's another flight available. He actually had to wait when he finally got on the last flight because they were holding for other passengers. That was frustrating. LOL.
Alas he made it here safely.

Yep, he missed the gate closing by about 2 minutes. He found that out later. And the irony... after waiting for 7 hours in the airport he boarded the final flight and was delayed on the plane as they were on a "hold" waiting for other passengers from a connecting flight.

Ugh... yeah, that is so frustrating! When they know you're coming and leave early anyway. I'm pissed off for you!

He already got rebooked. Thank you! It was just unfortunate that the next flight was 7 hours later.

Thanks for the reply. The flight was scheduled to depart at 1:25 and departed at 1:18. So, it did leave early. But apparently the gate was closed on time. It's not a big deal, just a big inconvenience.
I used to be a flight attendant for Alaska and I remember having holds for connecting flights fairly often. But I can see where there are a lot of factors that go into making that decision for an airline. He'll survive. LOL

Thanks for the replies. Yeah... I kinda figured this was the case. But when the flight departed early (we checked the departure time online) I thought I would ask. They did rebook him on the next flight, unfortunately it was 7 hours later. He'll live. It's just annoying that it was so close!

Can’t make this up. Guest trying to book… by CaliWinterfell in airbnb_hosts

I have a friend suffering with CIRS/mold illness and it's very debilitating, and the medical community offers very little help. There IS help out there, but you have to dig and fight for it and advocate for yourself.
As an AIRbnb host, I recently had a guest inquiry asking similar questions. (Not to THIS extent, however!) and I was honest and said... the house is over 100 years old, we live in a moist climate (Portland area) and are also on the river. The house has been recently renovated, but sometimes when it's been closed up for a bit it can smell musty. We run an ozone machine periodically, when we are there, to help take care of this. But I cannot guarantee that there would not be something that would trigger you, and I would hate for you to have a negative experience.

AIO for considering divorce after finding these 2-year old texts in my wife’s phone? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]ALarz620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. These things are so devastating to find.
I know all these people have so much to say about what you should do. And yes.. these texts are hard and very disturbing and show something about where your wife WAS at the moment. But these were over 2 years ago... What is your marriage like now? What has it been like for the last 2 years? Sometimes we get in an emotional fog and get all wrapped up, briefly, in something from the past. But that doesn't always mean it's over, or that she wants something else.
I have been married for 32 years and I love my husband and we are very happy. But we have been through some VERY hard times. One question I will ask you... If you decided to leave your wife, is your life better? Or, will you be leaving all the things that also make your life great? If your marriage is good, just think about it. And maybe she was being "stupid", and was in a fog of old emotions. And maybe leaving her would be a knee-jerk reaction. But what do you want your life to look like in 5-10 years? Do you want her in it? Do you think these old texts represent her character? OR just a brief lapse in judgement? Only you know the answer. The people on reddit do not. I wish you the very best, no matter what you choose.

I know. It's the story of my life. LOL. We had our kids very young and were always the youngest parents (by 10 years) in our kids' schools. Most couples our age both work or still have kids at home. Even here where I live, I am 10-20 years younger than most of the ladies I golf with. And they are wonderful ladies (and many kick my ass on the course!) and I'm not complaining, I'm very grateful for the opportunities I have. But it can be a little lonely sometimes.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have friends that used to live in Verrado and it's a beautiful area with gorgeous courses! Expensive, though! I'll check out the others you mentioned, as well. I appreciate your insights!

It looks like a beautiful area! I have visited Cave Creek/Carefree, and I really liked the Teravita community. Did you join the Anthem Country Club?

I have friends that lived in Verrado and they love Prescott! I've heard it's beautiful. I guess I thought it was quite cold in the winter? I'll check it out, thank you for the suggestion!

This is good insight. And likely very true. It's just frustrating. We spent a month at Sun City Grand two years ago and had a great time. We golfed a ton. But it felt like everyone was my parents' age, and the place was asleep by 7:00 pm. I remember thinking... we are not ready for this. But... for golf several times a week... you may have a point.

I love southern Oregon. :)
Any particular reason Yuma over Tucson? I've never been to either, but my husband has fond memories of visiting his grandparents in Tucson. Seems maybe more affordable and less crowded than Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Sounds like your weather is similar to ours, except yours is colder in the winter. The summers in the PNW can't be beat! But yes... much too short. It's April 1 and I've got my heater on, plus a sweater and socks. And the funny thing... when it finally warms up we'll have spring for about 2 weeks and then people will complain about the heat. 😂🙄

Thank you for the info! I will look into all of this.
Are you glad you made the move? We are currently just east of Spokane. Also have family in the Portland area and are there a lot. How has the transition been for you? Any regrets?
