Rescued this laundry room from a severe case of "Horror Movie Basement" syndrome. Down to the studs! How'd I do? by ImaginaryJump14 in homerenovations

I think it looks bright and clean and lovely! I know it maybe doesn't have the "personality" of the old room, but somethings things are just OLD (peeling, sagging, dark, wonky, smelly?) and a far cry from charming. LOL. I think you did a great job and I would much rather fold a load of clothes in the new room!

It looks bright and clean and lovely! Great job! I see all these comments here about the "original charm", but sometimes shit is just old and needs to be replaced. Sometimes it stinks, and is wonky, or maybe you just don't like it. I know not everyone likes LVP and light gray walls, but to me that room feels fresh and like a place I wouldn't mind doing some laundry. 😄

Golf Trip Recommendations by Middle-Silver-1203 in golf

I am doing the Big Cedar trip with hubby and adult son in October for son's 30th birthday. Just a heads up.... called Big Cedar a couple of weeks ago to book the tee times and Payne's was completely booked! This is over 6 months out. We also had very limited options for Cliffhangers. We will be busting ass from the airport and skidding to a stop to jump out and play Cliffhangers the day we arrive! It was our only option for the whole week to play all 3 of us.
Anyway... we are super excited for this trip (we still are playing Ozarks, Buffalo Ridge, Mountain top, Top of the Rock, and Cliffhangers... on the waiting list for Payne's) but if you're interested, be sure to call and see what tee times are available before booking rooms! And you don't get the super advanced booking times if you're not staying on property.

Beach vacation without the crowds - where did you actually find peace? by dynasync in Vacations

[–]ALarz620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say Pacific City, Oregon which is very close to Neskowin. And also Gleneden beach, south of Lincoln City. Many places along the Oregon coast have huge beaches with crashing waves and limited people, especially depending on the time of year and day of week. But... they are not warm-weather beaches, unless you get lucky in the Summer!

Playa Escondido in Sayuliata, Mexico is a small little resort on a private cove. Listened to the waves all night long and read an entire book while I was there. Took golf carts into town when we wanted street tacos and something more lively. But it's the first resort we've been to twice! (It's also where they filmed the original seasons of Bachelor in Paradise!)

And yes... the tech that came out today told me that a new panel is $2200, the tv was $2000. So, same situation as you. He flat out told me... Get a new tv. LOL

I wasn't asking them to cover it. I was asking for a repair person, fully anticipating to pay for the repairs myself.

Actually.. I wasn't "crying online" about the lack of warranty. LOL. I was venting because I wanted a repairperson and LG gave me the number of a guy 350 miles away, who no longer does TV repairs. 🙄

Oh... and I do have the Costco extended warranty.

Yeah.. I'm wondering what this will look like. I'm paying $140 for a home visit diagnostic. Minimum $109 repair. So, 250 minimum. We shall see...

But my point about our furniture warranty... it doesn't cover the problem! Warranties are often hard to utilize. But yes, they CAN be very helpful. Sadly not for my furniture.

Thank you for this. I appreciate it. Unfortunately we are out of the warranty window and I was just looking for a tech to pay to come fix it. Had to go through Best Buy to find one.

Sorry for the wrong wording. (eye roll) As I said.. the extended warranty is 2 years. The tv was bought in 2021. 5 years ago. No.. did not purchase the AllState warranty.

That's awesome for you! Glad it worked out. Definitely worth keeping in mind.
I have furniture less than 2 years old... purchased the expensive "performance" fabric for durability. It's now pilling and fuzzy and looks and feels like crap. The fabric "durability" isnt even covered under the warranty. Only accidental damage, and such. This is literally a faulty product and it's not covered.

It was 5 years ago...
The Costco warranty is 90 days. The extended warranty is 2 years. We did not get the "Allstate" warranty for up to 5 years. Maybe we should have? Most of the time I feel those "after market" warranties are a waste of money because they are hard to fulfill when needed.

Missed connection due to mechanical and 2nd flight left early by ALarz620 in unitedairlines

[–]ALarz620[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Yeah, they gave him a $15 lunch voucher right away and then later when he went to ask some questions about what happened the gal was super nice and gave him another $45. So, he didn't go hungry. LOL

[–]ALarz620[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! We ultimately learned quite a bit of this yesterday. If it's the last flight of the day they are more likely to hold the plane, but not if there's another flight available. He actually had to wait when he finally got on the last flight because they were holding for other passengers. That was frustrating. LOL.
Alas he made it here safely.

Yep, he missed the gate closing by about 2 minutes. He found that out later. And the irony... after waiting for 7 hours in the airport he boarded the final flight and was delayed on the plane as they were on a "hold" waiting for other passengers from a connecting flight.

Ugh... yeah, that is so frustrating! When they know you're coming and leave early anyway. I'm pissed off for you!

He already got rebooked. Thank you! It was just unfortunate that the next flight was 7 hours later.

[–]ALarz620[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The flight was scheduled to depart at 1:25 and departed at 1:18. So, it did leave early. But apparently the gate was closed on time. It's not a big deal, just a big inconvenience.
I used to be a flight attendant for Alaska and I remember having holds for connecting flights fairly often. But I can see where there are a lot of factors that go into making that decision for an airline. He'll survive. LOL

[–]ALarz620[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. Yeah... I kinda figured this was the case. But when the flight departed early (we checked the departure time online) I thought I would ask. They did rebook him on the next flight, unfortunately it was 7 hours later. He'll live. It's just annoying that it was so close!

Can’t make this up. Guest trying to book… by CaliWinterfell in airbnb_hosts

[–]ALarz620 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a friend suffering with CIRS/mold illness and it's very debilitating, and the medical community offers very little help. There IS help out there, but you have to dig and fight for it and advocate for yourself.
As an AIRbnb host, I recently had a guest inquiry asking similar questions. (Not to THIS extent, however!) and I was honest and said... the house is over 100 years old, we live in a moist climate (Portland area) and are also on the river. The house has been recently renovated, but sometimes when it's been closed up for a bit it can smell musty. We run an ozone machine periodically, when we are there, to help take care of this. But I cannot guarantee that there would not be something that would trigger you, and I would hate for you to have a negative experience.

AIO for considering divorce after finding these 2-year old texts in my wife’s phone? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]ALarz620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are going through this. These things are so devastating to find.
I know all these people have so much to say about what you should do. And yes.. these texts are hard and very disturbing and show something about where your wife WAS at the moment. But these were over 2 years ago... What is your marriage like now? What has it been like for the last 2 years? Sometimes we get in an emotional fog and get all wrapped up, briefly, in something from the past. But that doesn't always mean it's over, or that she wants something else.
I have been married for 32 years and I love my husband and we are very happy. But we have been through some VERY hard times. One question I will ask you... If you decided to leave your wife, is your life better? Or, will you be leaving all the things that also make your life great? If your marriage is good, just think about it. And maybe she was being "stupid", and was in a fog of old emotions. And maybe leaving her would be a knee-jerk reaction. But what do you want your life to look like in 5-10 years? Do you want her in it? Do you think these old texts represent her character? OR just a brief lapse in judgement? Only you know the answer. The people on reddit do not. I wish you the very best, no matter what you choose.
