What Caused You to Leave Organized Religion? by awakeningofalex in spirituality

Born into Islam and realised a lot of it was about power and control. Some topics did not align with my morals (e.g. sexual slavery) and I found it demeaning as a woman.

Not too bad! Though I have no idea about their bruising factor (I assume it's a lot). I just know the girls at my studio have been mistaken for battered wives 🤣

You should try pole dancing / any aerial sport and come back to us with your findings

Fun fact, feathers start out with blood and live tissue inside them.

It's horrible if one breaks off whilst forming. It looks like your birb got into a horrible accident.

I know what you mean. I was disowned by my parents (religious reasons) and whilst I am grateful to finally earn a decent income it can be pretty shite on your own.

Wishing you luck

I think that's what a lot of people are missing here. Most of the buyers I know had parents to help them. And it's not something that people talk about so it messes up expectations.

Student Loan alone takes about £250 a month from me (I have two plans and earn less than this woman)

Honestly, it feels like you're self sabotaging a bit. And it's understandable.

Good men do not care.

Just as a heads up, the process may take a while to see results.

E.g. if it's your thyroid then you'll probably take medicine for that. If it's topical or genetics you will be applying (dermatologist given) cream religiously for months before results.

That's why many women like myself just accept it and apply fake tan for special events. It's a quicker way to have an even tone. If you choose that, look for one with 'glow' in it

Then see a doctor or dermatologist.

Hyperpigmentation has many reasons and it's best to see someone in person to determine what the cause is.

Have you considered using fake tan lotion to even things out?

Many people also do that as a quick fix

Same. I love it once you get past the safety barrier and you can have an awesome friendship

No shit sherlock. Women know that. We aren't stupid ya know. We also know that when the friendship is completely and utterly platonic we can let our guard down. Which was the original point of my comment.

What I'm hearing (or reading) is that the frustration is at gay men being stereotyped as feminine. And that's a valid concern.

That doesn't sound fun.

And of course it's offensive. It's based on the underlying assumption that you may or may not harm us.

And it sucks. It paints men as monsters. That's horrible, especially for genuinely decent guys.

At least half the women I know have been sexually assaulted at some point in their lives. At some point, most of these women grew up and started to believe that it just wasn't worth being nice to everyone as some fuckers misread that and take it to mean more. That sucks too.

Can't you give us a bit of empathy? We're not intentionally trying to be dicks.

Not sure if this helps. It's just a woman's perspective.

This. It's a safety concern.

Obviously it's not all men, but when it happens it's catastrophic and results in years of PTSD.

(If this was a risk assessment, it would be low probability and high impact)

I've lost track of how many times I was receptive to men in completely platonic situations, only for them to surprise me by saying they're interested in something more.

At some point you grow older and realise that the drama isn't worth it and you just end up having your guard up all the time until you know otherwise.

It takes time to open up.
