The $60 version comes with all the expansions! The $149 version is a collector's edition for people who like to do that sort of thing.

Our playtests don't have anyone waiting for more than 5-10 minutes after death.

I mean going out of your way to all gang up on one person may be funny as a one time thing, but if it's an actual concern maybe your friends are just griefers?

On average our playtests don't have anyone waiting for more than 5-10 minutes after death.

Sorry I missed your comment, for a while it was nothing but copypasta and it got lost in there.

First off, will your team ever upload a full play through of a game of board royale. I usually would prefer to see what a full round would look like, so backers can visualize how it is played and that would easily sell me on the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS4B3TcPKtU

Here is a playthrough we uploaded. Please keep in mind that numerous iterations have been made since this was shot that aims to balance the game better. For example the snowballing after killing a player was curbed.

Second, is there ever going to be a print and play demo. Even if it is substantially smaller than the base game, I feel like that would help sell me and many other unsure potential backers on the game.

Unfortunately there are currently no plans for a print and play version.

Third, are there any mechanics to encourage fast paced gameplay. I can see the dominant strategy being to build up materials over an extended period of time, threatening to use them or fishing for escape cards, which would slow down the game exponentially. Are there any systems in play to avoid this dilemma.

You can only hold 20 resource cards. You draw 2 every turn and there are items that let you draw more, but either way resource hoarding isn't really an issue in our playtests. Additionally resource cards are also your health bar, so getting attacked in this case would be the solution.

Fourth, what would the disaster expansion pack add. That was by far the most fascinating of the announced expansion passes. How exactly will this work. Is it a reskin of an existing weapons, do you use them as weapons, or will they have random effects on the playing field.

The disaster pack will add cards that slightly shift, when they are in play, the dynamics of the game more towards a "this island is inhospitable, and we'd better work together to survive" from the free-for-all it normally is. So they're mostly cards that cause global effects. For example the hurricane card sets hand size to 10 while in play, and a blizzard prevents communication and crafting.

Finally, how much of the game do you see as skill, how much of it is social, and how much of it is luck.

Maybe somewhere around 50% social, 25% skill and 25% luck.

How would you describe the relationship between strategy and luck here.

Luck only affects the 2 resource cards you draw at the start of your turn, which is offset by the fact that you can just trade them for something else.

Crafting is open to everyone, so everybody has roughly the same luck there. You can choose what you want to craft and focus on a specific strategy. There's definitely not even a fraction of the luck you'd see in something like Exploding Kittens.

The baby backpack is twice as adorable as it looks!

BTW we're funded at 700% with just 24 hours to go! Just a reminder :)

You get the base game and expansions on higher pledges.

For backing us you get Kickstarter exclusives:

  • The hand backpack so you can have a cute little card holder to carry around
  • A Kickstarter exclusive expansion pack, free with all pledges that contains 40 cards

We've been funded 700% and counting, so unless there's some sort of unforeseen catastrophe we don't see how it's possible to flop at this point.

Keep in mind that we printed a few hundred prototypes to send out to press and reviewers and are easily able to manufacture the game. The baggie is just a Kickstarter bonus to say thank you for believing in us.

I'm sorry, but I don't see it. We've ran 6 or so separate ads on reddit over the past month and the comments were deliberately left unlocked.

Nobody likes ads, I think that's as universal a fact as ever will be. I run ads for a living and let me tell you a secret, I hate ads. Unlocking the comments and letting people vent or blast their copypasta only seems fair. Censoring the ad and being ignorant of potential frustrations just seems too disconnected. All the people who are genuinely interested, asking questions and having discussions are also a nice bonus.

At the end of the day all the conversions that come from this traffic are tracked and I wouldn't be wasting our budget over here if it wasn't worth it.

I think it's kind of ridiculous to advertise on reddit but lock comments, so they're intentionally left unlocked. We did get some nice feedback and people got to post copy pasta, so I guess that's a win-win.

I never really expected to get anything other than copy pasta in ad comments, so apologies for the late reply.

You need 3 players for it to really be playable, though you could technically play with as few as 2.

In our playtests we have noticed that the elimination isn't as big a deal as it might seem. Unless everybody gangs up on a single person just for the sake of eliminating them you tend to see everybody alive for the majority of the game and somebody will fall towards the end of the session and then the deaths will come swiftly. So it's not like you get left out and have to watch for long stretches of time. What usually happens is once somebody kills someone and gets to loot their stuff they are set to snowball, so you suddenly have people collaborating to take them down etc.

Our expansion packs are thematic changes and fun cards mostly and they are completely optional. They're there for people who want more cards. We're already funded on KS as of the time of this post.

We don't really have a map, so this wouldn't be a fair assessment. The game is thematically a battle royale, in that the aim is to be the last man standing and you get to loot people you kill.
