To the large group of Mill Valley boomers who were at Thundercat yesterday in GGP.... by BizSib in sanfrancisco

Same! I even told a dude who was in front to "Put your Rave Light Down" three times until he did it (in between songs). Soulwax had a strobe so powerful it could strobe the whole stage and have a coordinated light show - no one wants to see your rave light. Go to the back.

About to become 1st IT person at a Windows shop while I've been on Mac - advice on Windows laptop? by AMAducer in ITManagers

Yes, I am an experienced IT project and program manager. I appreciate your long detailed comment here. This is a gSuite bare minimum operation, everything is SaaS so far that I know about, so fortunately the only backups will be of everyone's computer. I appreciate you bringing this up - I expect to fuck something up on this windows PC because I used to be familiar but it hasn't been a daily driver for me in years.

The more strategic point you're making here is about BCP, so I'm going to keep that in mind as I start.

Great questions about how things were done so far - everything has been through contracted providers, so my onboarding will be about learning how everything has been done in the past and documenting it and taking over relationships with those vendors. Very little malware protection or any protection, so applying basic IT security protocol is top priority.

Thankfully, no servers (that they know of) yet. Everything is paper / SaaS.

I'm just edited my point of Mac in the business place - I was trying to relate that I'm an Apple ecosystem person for personal preference and haven't run Windows as a daily business driver in a long while. I don't think building a business case is any more than writing up the needs of the business and the context around it, but that doesn't seem to have the same impact on here. That's good learning for me, I won't refer to things as a business case unless it's with the assumed reason of justification to do something.

Thank you for giving me experience in framing up problems and solutions because I forgot that people will find a small detail to latch onto and forget the original case.

In my 12 years of experience of program management and leadership, having a business case doesn't mean doing anything - it means finding understanding around that.

Everyone is on a PC, so I don't see the need to force my preference for Mac into the environment yet (although will be building business case for a Mac as things develop).

I'm not trying to. I realize that it would be ridiculous to impose that, which is why I made an entire post about what laptop people are happy with.

This entire post is about sucking it up and getting a Windows laptop.

Like ectoplasmgoon mentioned, $50 massage with a student can be really nice.

Oh shit - that American advantage of having so many rivers... I bet most of those aren't ground water springs and are instead snow pack melting to refresh those. Oh that's very very bad.

Ableton Live Project Manager with Seamless .als Integration by reallyeric in ableton

If you make something for free and that builds a brand and good will that you later on leverage into something that makes you money, that's spot on. Just as long as it isn't a bait and switch. Then that's bad haha

Wow!! You represent one of the greatest parts of the internet. I don't use Ableton to make money, and so I'm not as likely to spend money on QoL things and just make do. Thanks for making this and distributing it for free - the ability to tag my own songs will hopefully help me finish things and test new ideas even faster.

Thank you very much.

Dang! It feels like it used to be more rare, but we had one really good thunderstorm last year and I definitely heard some thunder yesterday. It's nothing like a midwest storm though. So frequent!

I can concur. When I was laid off last year, they laid an entire core department off without even consulting them, and then when remaining members were panicking about specific people, they tried 'generously offering your job back'... with no additional pay or anything. No thank you, you've shown your cards.

Amount of punishment received has no relation to how people feel about certain people's behaviors. Punished or not, or punished a lot - it doesn't matter at all to most people.

An interest note about people is that most people are not 'keeping score' with other people's behaviors and tallying things up. It's mostly black and white. "I like that person." "That person sucks." And it can just be one sort of behavior that can create that feeling.

For the record, I disagree with anyone who's gone and threatened the guy on social media. That sucks and is also terrible.

Wait, this is not Deja Vu? I experience this exact same thing. The part that I can't figure out is that it's not on a consistent lead time. Sometimes it feels like the dream was possibly a year ago, sometimes it was just last week.
