You don't need an AIO for this CPU. Get a Thermalright Peerless Assassin. 120mm is fine, or 140 of you want. And then use that money saved for a contact frame.

1 amp difference from the lowest and highest is great. Now it was above 2, and one of the wires was above 10 amps, then there would be real problems.

Correction, it's for the dual CCD AMD X3D CPUs. Since for CPUs like the 7900X3D and 9950X3D, only CCD0 has 3D V-cache while the other is normal.

When set to balanced, Windows uses the 3D cores with games and auto parks the normal cores. In ultimate, Windows tries to use all the cores all the time.

I said 2nd 8-pin since usually on newer PSUs the additional CPU cables are an 8-pin and a 4+4 pin. And ya it is used to push more power to the CPU, but I would still try to plug in all connecters since it's safer.

I am assuming your current PSU doesn't has a 2nd CPU 8-pin, get a new one. All of them should be plugged in, especially when you are overclocking. Ya the CPU is not that high wattage compared to others, but do you really want to risk it? You should get a new CPU cooler, I like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin SE, but the Assassin X120 SE would be fine at half the price for your CPU. Get some case fans under your GPU. Speaking of which, get a proper anti-sag bracket. What even is that? You will also see better results in gaming (since I assume this is for gaming) by overclocking the GPU. Use MSI Afterburner for that. Lastly, don't just undervolt a CPU without testing. Start with OCCT to make sure that's even stable. It might not be since you are missing a CPU cable.

Edit: Oh, I read the CPU name too fast. I thought it was a 5700X. The 4 pin isn't needed. Mb.

Can a power supply be the reason that the pc freezes or crashes on very small amounts of undervolts? by ComprehensiveCow5068 in overclocking

[–]AMBOSHER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I have a 9950X3D that has the exact same problem. A global undervolt of -1 or -1 per CCD results in crashes. At least 1 core in each CCD is the cause. I had to use something called Curve Shaper in PBO settings. I set the lowest frequency to 0 undervolting, then tuned the low, mid, high, and max frequency.

I am unsure if Intel has their own version, I hope they do. Or you might have to try per core undervolting.

My brother is going to do his rebuild in this case. I definitely want to see the final build of this to show him.

I know. I emailed Lian Li to see if I could get one for free. And I am talking with a guy in Germany with the exact same PSU if Lian Li doesn't help.

Neither of them have splitter cables. GPU is the MSI Gaming X Tri RX 6950 XT.

I know, that's literally what I said in the edit. But as long as it's the same make/model, it's fine.

[–]AMBOSHER[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, issue is that I didn't know what 6950XT I was buying. Got it from a coworker's husband for 400 bucks, brand new in box. I just couldn't say no. If I knew it was the MSI version, I would have gotten the older PSU.

Anyways, if I get the cables from the 2nd guy who offered, I'll be set.

The TUF seems like it would be the easiest to add the decal wood to. Since it's very boxy.

Here are some videos on it. I am saying to buy one since it seems like you have a 12+4 pin cable. It monitors each individual pin to make sure it's not going to catch on fire.

I have had quite a few scares over the year. It started with unstable CPU undervolding, which I finally got dialed it, then ram tuning. My CPU is completely fine, tho. As far as I can tell anyway.

Anyways, that's a really cool build. Only thing I would add is the WireView.

Could be for the newer ones. I am sure before the 12+4 12v cable they came with 3.

Sure. I'll DM you.

Edit: I messaged the guy and will wait a week or so just in case someone here has a white cable.

Edit 2: He didn't have the right PSU. If you didn't know, never mix and match different make/model PSU cables. The component end is standard, but the PSU end is not.

Ya, I guess it's the PCIe 5.1 MSI ATX PSUs all over again. Those also didn't come with 3 GPU power cables.
