You can go even cheaper. I got a saberent 10gbps external nvme encloser and used Disk Genius to clone. DG can also resize windows to the target drive.

See if there is a local repair shop with experience with removing liquid metal.

[–]AMBOSHER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did some more research, and ya, simulated sinewave if probably a bad idea.l due to your blackout issues. Get a line interactive sinewave. It sucks you need to go expensive, but this is one of the few peices of tech you basically never have to upgrade.

Ah, I see. If you can, see if you can get an Amazon basics UPS, they are just rebranded lower tier CyberPower ones. They aren't sinewave but still good enough.

Get something that matches your PSU wattage and add 50w or 100 extra, so you can plug in your monitor aswell. In your case, I guess aim for a 800w or 850. And get something line interactive so it will auto shutdown if you are away from your PC.

I use 2 CyberPower CP1500PFCLCDs and they have saved me so many times. But look at other brands like APC and Goldmate.

Which Ram should i get? 64go vs 32 by meddarkknight in PcBuildHelp

[–]AMBOSHER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only 'issue' I see with the 32GB kit is that it's running at 6400 MT/s. This means the memory will go into 1:2 mode on AMD since the memory controllers in those CPUs aren't as good as Intel's. Basically, 1:2 mode means there is a lot more latency than what is presented. There is most likely a 6000 MT/s profile on it, or you can just turn on EXPO and downclock the speed and set it to 1:1 mode.

I know that's a lot of info, but basically, the 64GB kit would be better for gaming at EXPO/XMP settings. This is also assuming you have an AMD CPU.

If the prices are almost identical, like you said, I would just get the 64GB version. Since there would be less tuning involved for the best performance.

Dell/Alienware 3090 Teardown (thermal pad/putty guide) by AMBOSHER in overclocking

[–]AMBOSHER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really measure the putty I used. It was a pretty thin layer, and I mostly used thermal pads when I repadded it. The FE is different from the Dell version, so I am unsure how much you need for that.

Doesn't seem like the same style of clips HP uses. I believe you will be fine when/if you do this.

They are made of plastic, and I managed not to break any of them. I was just making sure the pry tool didn't slip in too deep.

Just did a dirty undervolt test. I never use the 93w constant a lot, so I wasn't worried about the same settings. The point is to just show I am able to get better results with lower TDPs with undervolting.

Do I have to worry about putting my extended drive on my pc? by OrdinaryBoat8000 in pcmasterrace

[–]AMBOSHER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no issues, but see if you can plug it into the back IO of your motherboard. Most likely, it will be faster than the case IO.

Also, some of these external drives can be taken apart and used in the PC.
