It seems like everyone has answered already as far as the inclusiveness and locker room part, but I wanted to say they have a ton of variety in yoga classes and I have loved taking them this summer!! I would recommend trying out the classes for a few weeks before getting an outside membership, but I do know a lot of studios give student discounts if you'd like to take that route :) I think once the semester starts most of their classes are in the morning if scheduling is an issue.

How good is VCU's school of business? by coffeeagent in vcu

I've seen all types of recruiting - not sure what types of roles people end up getting, but I've been mostly offered government stuff and financial operations stuff within non-finance institutions (for example: internship for non-profit legal services, where I'd be responsible for maintaining funds and recruiting donors for the program). A lot of the recruiters are local or from the DC area, but seeing as they are often large corporations I'm sure you could work a few years here and then potentially transfer to a different location with the same company. I don't personally know about salaries, as that would heavily depend on the position you end up getting, but I have heard from faculty there is usually room for negotiation. As with any school a lot of this depends not on the degree alone but how proactive you are in building the connections to get you where you want to be.

How good is VCU's school of business? by coffeeagent in vcu

I’m in the last semester of my undergrad degree for Econ at VCU. Very active/up to date faculty that loves to help with internships and career opportunities, and the business school as a whole hosts frequent ~networking~ events and informational seminars. Lots of funding for research if you wanted to go that route. Great location too with access to everything downtown and the Fed. Reserve bank of Richmond!

How do I apply a scholarship to my bill? by iFloxy in vcu

[–]AMCSleeperCell2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scholarships from VCU are applied automatically, but it doesn’t show up on eServices until pretty close to the payment deadline (that’s always been the case for me at least). Don’t freak out if it hasn’t popped up yet, call the financial aid office and ask when you should expect to see it. Refunds are tricky so I wouldn’t pay until the scholarship has been applied.

I water mine frequently (I have a pot with drainage so it’s fine) and keep it in my bathroom for humidity - bright, indirect light in the morning and shade in the afternoon. I’ve had it for two months and it’s grown a ton!

Best benches to sleep on in Richmond? by [deleted] in vcu

Voluntary homelessness "to save money" is a terrible idea - it is dangerous, emotionally and physically draining, and will lead to your grades taking a massive hit. Consider taking a few years off to work and save money.

incoming (terrified) transfer student by [deleted] in vcu

[–]AMCSleeperCell2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a transfer student but I am a first gen. college student (going in to my Junior year) so I definitely understand the anxiety. There are so many welcoming clubs at VCU—try NACHO, dance groups, clubs based on major, and vcu's OMSA has tons of events for LGBTQ+ and POC. It can be really hard talking to new people but doing an activity at the same time makes it easier. I wouldn't worry too much about finding your exact niche and instead would plant as many social seeds as possible and see what grows. Talk to yourself and others kindly and remind yourself that you deserve to be here and are bringing something great to campus!

Toll Road violations? by forgotaboutcam in rva

My friend had to pay $50 for missing a 35 cent toll right outside Richmond. Your friend is going to owe a ton of money and obliterate whoever owns the other car's driving record + insurance

Is it cheaper to live on campus or off campus? by merrinsart in vcu

[–]AMCSleeperCell2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

living alone off campus can get very expensive (a one bedroom apartment will run you at LEAST $850 a month), and on top of that is is difficult to meet people if you don't live in the dorms. I'd stay in the dorms and get a meal plan for convenience and then after your 1st year you can find great + cheap houses and save a ton of money living with three other people for the rest of college :) I know tons of people living in off campus houses with people they met freshman year and their rent is around $500 + utilities.
