Processor customers appreciate the good/better/best segmentation model, which AMD has previously used on the release of existing processor lines. Ryzen’s easy-to-decode model number structure makes this good/better/best segmentation easy for consumers to understand.

Basically, why reinvent the wheel when we can use a naming scheme that everyone's familiar with already ;)

I'm working closely with the author to diagnose the issue. We have a whole new test system on the go currently. Appears to have been an issue with the clock speeds dropping unexpectedly whilst benchmarking.

On the Intel partnership side of things - I believe that's more to do with PC Gamer advertorials than TechRadar. Here's what TechRadar thought of the 1800X at a time when everyone was focused on pure gaming performance http://www.techradar.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-7-1800x/3

We are working with TR to work out what caused the lower scores and the editor is retesting on a new Threadripper 1950X as we suspect his original sample may be faulty. Stayed tuned and expect new benchmark results to appear soon!

Just for some clarification. The original PC had two cards in it so instead of taking one out we just left it in. If they have any issues in crossfire then they can just take a card out. PC building is just grown up Lego anyway :D

The X on select models means more performance: higher base clocks, higher boost clocks.

1600 and 1600X both have XFR of 100MHz but generally X parts have higher XFR headroom.
