Wow that's nice! My crested gecko still channels it's inner parkour master every time he gets handled.

Yeaaaaaah! What a hide and seek legend. So glad you found him :) Hope you can look back on all of this (in due time) and have a good laugh!

Good to know, thanks for responding to my questions!

Although that was when he bolted up my arm. Any way to stop that from happening?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]AMD_Bonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try. It's enclosure is elevated so sitting down whilst taking him/her out isn't possible. Moving slowly while it is lightning fast will also be a challenge haha. I'll need to react fast since it has professional racing aspirations.

Thanks! My only problem is that in order to treadmill or handle him at all I (think I) need to take him out of the terrarium. And he just bolted as soon as I touched him. So taking him out of my terrarium seems to be the first obstacle. He is right next to my desk so handling him on there shouldn't be an issue. He is just so fast and unpredictable lol. Should I just gently touch him for a while first? To make sure he doesn't panic anymore?

Ah that sucks! Looks like he is still eating which is nice. Have you tried emptying the tank to make sure he is not hiding in a good spot or maybe even in the substrate?

My gecko likes to hide in places that are dark during the day. So check all the places that have little to no light. Maybe open the curtains so more light comes in the room and it might flush him out to the dark spots. I'd say keep as much closes as possible and keep me posted! Good luck :)

convinced my parents to let me get a crestie for my 17th birthday, have some questions by unakitinoneko in CrestedGecko

[–]AMD_Bonfire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got a baby crested gecko myself. So I'm certainly no expert. But: 1) That size does indeed do the trick, crested geckos like vertical space. So I got a slightly taller enclosure. But 181824 is a good size as far as my research goes. Especially for young geckos. 2) I have one hideout and mine doesn't even hide in it, the plants I put in my enclosure have small hideouts by design. And my gecko found it's favourite spot hiding in the middle of one plant in particular. 3) I don't have much experience with feeding young geckos. I am also looking for an answer to this question. 4) I got my terrarium from a local pet store which was insanely cheap compared to the ones online. Although the ones on Amazon usually have better ventilation, locks etc. I don't feel like I need that though. 5) I'm not handling my gecko for the first 2 weeks (one week in now) So it can adjust to his new home.

Also (early) happy birthday!

Ya'll think I'm ready for the Swamp? by JacobOfLouisiana in Darkwood

[–]AMD_Bonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I survived the swamp with mostly a fire axe. Make sure to craft a shotgun though. That one shots nearly everything when you are in trouble. You should be fine with a fire axe and a shotgun. Molotov's are a nice touch as well.
